On Saturday morning, the entrances to the Antakalnis cemetery were guarded by a large police force.

It was impossible to get to the cemetery and park the car.

However, this and the call not to demonstrate due to rampant coronaviruses did not stop those who wish to commemorate the end of World War II, which Europe commemorates the day before.

Like every year, red carnations could be purchased at cemetery entrances, which fans bought and placed at a memorial to soldiers on Victory Day, which was celebrated in the Soviet Union and is now celebrated in Russia.

For a carnation, vendors asked for 80 euro cents this year, and it was also possible to buy the Georgija ribbons here, which were used by a person who often went to the cemetery.

This year it was decided that there would be no speech events at the Antakalnis Cemetery. Ordinarily, war veterans dressed in orders with portraits of dead soldiers gathered at the cemetery on this day.

Perhaps because the coronavirus is particularly dangerous to the elderly, they were not seen in the Antakalnis cemetery this year, but there were few older people here until noon on Saturday.
