“Today, I appealed to Acting Minister of Health A. Veryga with a request to urgently develop an algorithm for the safe work of the Seimas and to take steps to finally validate rapid tests for COVID-19 antigens in Lithuania. They are not only convenient, because they provide an answer in a few minutes, but they are also almost 3 times cheaper than those used now, “wrote V. Čmilytė-Nielsen on his Facebook account.

He hopes that the SAM will soon provide the conditions to handle the flow of people, maintain a safe distance, the necessary public health safety, hygiene and provide people with the necessary personal protective equipment on the Seimas.

“The minister’s proposal to close the Seimas for two weeks is not the answer. Yes, today we decided to take a break from Wednesday to Thursday of next week to prepare for the complete and safe work of the Seimas and to ensure that the parliamentarians gathered in the Seimas are not infected and have a chance to test.

There are many pressing issues on the Seimas agenda. Starting with next year’s budget, the change of government and, most importantly, the fight against the coronavirus. Today, unfortunately, it is already available to everyone due to measures that were not taken in time, ”said V. Čmilytė-Nielsen.

Veryga: Quarantine will be offered to continue until mid-December

The tv3.lt portal recalls that it has been decided that the quarantine will be offered to continue until mid-December, no new conditions are given, the acting Minister of Health A. Veryga announced on Monday.

As he said, the original proposal was to extend the quarantine until December 31, but, as decided by the Covid-19 Management Committee, it was agreed to extend it for a shorter period.

“On Wednesday, the government will be offered to continue it until December 16 and 17. Therefore, an extension for a shorter period than proposed. Later, the new government would decide whether or not to extend the quarantine. No changes have been discussed. special conditions under quarantine, “he said.

At the same time, Mr. Veryga emphasized that next week will be critical. At the same time, he reported that if the situation does not change and worsens, decisions are scheduled to be taken next week on restricting the work of supermarkets.

A critical week awaits you

“It just came to our notice then, albeit at a slower rate than last week. Based on the scientists’ predictions, we should have peaked at this point, which we should have reached 2,300 to 2,400 cases per day, and we have a similar number.

If the quarantine works, maybe we should see a slightly different dynamic, maybe a decrease, at the end of the week. This week will be critical, showing how the situation is changing. Because what we are seeing in the example of other countries that have applied the quarantine, Ireland, Israel, this third week was critical when it was possible to assess how the situation is changing.
