“I will try to show that there is not a sufficient legal basis for the dismissal and that the procedures have been violated,” Čaplinskas told BNS on Thursday.
“My lawyers are preparing an appeal against an administrative decision before the Minister, and if you do not have enough lawyers to complain about the legal basis, then I will seek justice through other legal means,” said the head of ULAC.
On Wednesday, Health Minister Arūnas Dulkys stated that he had no legal basis to change the decision of his predecessor Aurelijus Veryga to fire S. Čaplinskas.
Advisor to Minister Aistė Šuksta BNS stated that A. Dulkys was aware of the findings of the commission, which evaluated S. Čaplinskas’ work, and did not doubt its reliability.
At the end of November, the then Minister of Health A. Veryga announced that S. Čaplinskas had been fired for failure to perform his duties and “for various infractions”.
S. Čaplinskas was unable to work at the time, but A. Veryga stated at the time that the first day of his job after incapacity for work would be the last day under the direction of ULAC.
On Thursday, A. Šuksta informed BNS that S. Čaplinskas had extended his inability to work.
S. Čaplinskas is a long-term director of ULAC.
