“In the context of the Delta pandemic, Lithuania is finally reverting to proper regulation of non-medical protection against pandemic viruses. As of Friday, October 1, the use of masks (respirators or other devices) indoors will be mandatory. , regardless of whether the activity is carried out with or without a Passport of Opportunity (GP). Until then, the communication did not wear masks to the GPs with masks, I think, generated unreasonable expectations for the public. Especially in closed spaces, because people can get infected and spread the virus and have immunity, ie GPs, “wrote S. Čaplinskas on Facebook.
Argues that the claim no longer makes sense
According to the virologist, with the introduction of the mandatory use of masks in all indoor places, the requirement of a passport for opportunities, especially in large supermarkets, no longer makes sense and should be abandoned.
“Directing the population without GPs to small supermarkets is a mistake that can contribute significantly to the further spread of the virus, as smaller spaces are more likely to concentrate and spread to even higher levels.
To date, no expert or official has made public arguments or criteria as to why only GPs are targeting large supermarkets and are still allowed not to wear face masks. I think that such arguments do not exist and have not existed, and this provision on large supermarkets was probably taken from ‘Liininsk’. Without any logic.
It was as if they wanted to make it worse by facilitating the exchange of viruses between the people taking over the smaller grocery stores, ”wrote S. Čaplinskas.
According to the specialist, if it were the other way around, that is, people were directed to large supermarkets, with adequate ventilation, large volumes of air, one could still speak of a certain logic.
“It just came to our knowledge then. This is a very dangerous factor: concentrating people in smaller spaces, which can significantly contribute to the spread of infection in society,” wrote S. Čaplinskas.
The government has approved the mandatory use of masks indoors
In order to strengthen COVID-19 disease management measures, the Government has agreed that decisions in the State Level Emergency Operations Manual, including the mandatory use of masks in confined spaces, should be binding, whether the activities are carried out with or without an Opportunity Passport. At the same time, it was decided to recommend employees to work remotely in both the public and private sectors, according to a press release.
After the decision, the masks will be mandatory in all interior areas, that is: commerce, service locations, institutions, companies or organizations, work or educational processes, events, etc., in accordance with the conditions established by the operations manager .
The requirement to wear a mask will not apply to children under 6 years of age, as well as to people with disabilities who, due to their health condition, cannot wear a mask or their health may be detrimental to their health (it is recommended to wear a mask), athletes or service providers at a time when the service cannot be provided while the recipient of the service is masked (for artists, athletes, announcers, event hosts, during rehearsals, video, audio recordings, broadcasts, etc.) .
For legal entities, the decisions of the Operations Manager will establish in detail the requirements for the performance of economic activities or the provision of services, that is, the obligation to publish information on the mandatory use of masks in visible places, to warn that they do not masks are used. , do not serve unused masks, etc.
