Saturday night’s MAMA Awards music awards sparked a storm of outrage in the public space. Internet commentators, politicians and famous people were not afraid to express their opinion and did not forgive the criticism of the event organizers that it was decided to hold such a celebration during the quarantine. It is true that on Sunday morning, the police announced that the event was clarifying the situation.

The coronavirus in Lithuania not only prevented going out with the closest people, but also stopped businesses or the organization of massive events. However, even after the quarantine was extended a few days ago, the organizers of one of the most famous music events took no action: they organized the MAMA awards at the “Žalgiris” arena in Kaunas.

The outrage on the Internet came after photos of the MAMA participants surfaced, at which point angry comments about the double standards and the event began to be labeled “a plague party.”

Celebrities also expressed outrage by joining the heated debate. Many have wondered why the pandemic prevents ordinary people from seeing relatives in other cities or organizing, for example, birthday parties, but it is possible to celebrate MAMA awards and attend them with a negative COVID-19 test.

“Only now did I realize that I needed to form a group with my parents and my brother, we could have met tonight,” famous comedian Paulius Ambrazevičius was outraged on Facebook.

Opium Club and Anna Mesha. Apartment ”, don’t you want to win visitor awards? Maybe he would have nominated me, he would have visited me! ”- joked Agnė Kulitaitė, star of social networks.

“You’re probably watching the MAMA awards straight from the Kaunas” Žalgiris “arena and you’re thinking,” What the fuck?!? So damn quarantine !!! “Oh yeah! They all work there. Filming of the show. Artists You can go to another municipality for work, you can swarm, you can go without masks and you cannot keep your distance. On April 9, I gathered a group to go to work in Chernobyl. Let’s pick up trash. I will issue a business travel certificate to all of you. Because you won’t have to isolate yourself when you return to work, ”said Šarūnas Jasiukevičius, the creator of the“ Past Intelligence ”program on Facebook.

“The government announces – We are going to die! Later, thousands of people find themselves in traffic jams near police firebreaks. And in the finale, at night, you’ll see the MAMA red carpet, serious scum who hasn’t been there for a year. Telikui there are no restrictions. Lithuanian Tula thinks “b *** dėjau!” Singer Linas Zareckas wrote on Facebook.

ChebryteCould you explain what is happening here in the “Žalgiris” arena of Kaunas during the parallel universe tonight? From what I read for the last time, all events in Lithuania are prohibited. I think maybe while roaming the world I did not notice any change in the rules, I even went to check it and read: “Events are allowed where you do not get out of the car and there are no more than 2 people in the car”, – I think to open the machines, it will be interesting to see who has what. But no. I didn’t really see the cars there. “It is allowed to travel cognitive and educational paths”, it is good if it is a so-called educational path throughout our musical history, perhaps then everything is in order. “Starting in 2021. March 15 You can visit museums, galleries and other exhibition spaces (eg zoos) in enclosed spaces in order to limit the flow of visitors, similar to their residents.

I have many friends who work and attend this event. Therefore, it is not very wise to write this in public when you are spinning in the same kettle. You should probably support and play with everyone on the same team, because we all want to be able to organize and participate in events again as soon as possible. But chebryte, what is going on? Where is it written that an event exemption applies when compared to it? Who is here by arbitrariness? The feeling that to honor the best musicians, you even humiliate them. Because they haven’t been able to perform concerts for over half a year, they earn money and MAMAs can take place. You could also pay, say, € 100 for a concert ticket, if the only condition was to have a negative corona test. Is that why musicians cannot do it and the association that unites them can? Am I stupid and don’t understand something? And yet 6-9 people on the red carpet without masks. It’s not just about safety itself, it’s about setting an example for the public.

We all know how to talk about staying home, getting vaccinated, but we may not be encouraged to break the rules in this way, especially since the event is taking place indoors. Of course the same thing happened with “Cinema Spring”, only there was a photo wall installed outside and I didn’t see people taking pictures at nine. I’m no longer talking about people being angry already, everyone is tired. Some with parents can’t see you for a year, and here you turn on the telik and see that there are people for whom the rules don’t apply. With all due respect, comrades and friends who are there. As the saying goes, nothing personal. And yes, I am angry that I was not chosen as the “Group of the Year” with Daniel Bunkus, wrote producer Mantas Bertulis on Facebook.

“I see Soc. networks that only Breasts, others At the crosses. And have they already allowed events in Lithuania? Somehow I didn’t hear it. PS: I’m not sorry, it’s interesting anyway, “wrote actor and perfume creator Aistis Mickevičius.

Police announced Sunday morning that they are clarifying the situation regarding the MAMA awards.

“Due to the MAMA awards event held in Kaunas, Žalgiris Arena yesterday, the Kaunas Police have started to clarify the circumstances, all the collected material will be evaluated and decisions will be made. Thank you all for your citizenship, “wrote the Lithuanian police on Facebook.

Ramūnas Matonis, Chief of the Police Department’s Communication Department, said his Kaunas police received around 30 reports of possible rapes at the event on Saturday.

“All the circumstances will be reviewed and it will be determined what violations there were, who violated them, and then there will be different decisions,” R. Matonis told BNS.

We remind you that the Lithuanian MAMA music awards were held on Saturday at the “Žalgiris” arena in Kaunas. Only the nominees were invited to the 10th ceremony on this year’s COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, there were no spectators in the room.

Event organizers announced that all participants had been screened for COVID-19 prior to the event.

On the festive evening, 16 statuettes were awarded to the best of 2020. The Roop, OG Version, Virgis Stakėnas with Kean Blunt, Sisters On Wire and others also appeared on stage. Musical bridges were also built from the Žalgiris Arena to other locations in Kaunas, where Justinas Jarutis and Saulės Kliošas waited. The funniest and most outrageous events of MAMA’s 10th anniversary and historic performance recordings were also on the air.
