It is true that so far there is not much interest in this possibility, and the biggest challenge for those who have arrived has been to put an envelope in the ballot box.
We will speak with Laura Matjošaityte, CEC President, more about the news from this round on early voting.
Hello, this morning only the polling stations opened and the queues reopened. So how will this early voting differ from the last round?
Well, it will be a little different from the last round, a little not. There will be only one ballot, there will be no multi-member ballots, of course it will be possible to vote 4 days in advance, there are early voting places in all Lithuanian municipalities, you can come all over Lithuania. Voting is available Monday through Thursday at 7 pm in the morning until 8 pm in the afternoon.
In the second round of the elections, in response to the constantly changing epidemiological situation, we decided to contact the Ministry of Health to provide opportunities for those who are in self-isolation, that is, those who have returned from abroad or those who have had contact with sick people. opportunities to temporarily leave the place of self-isolation and, by order of the Minister of Health, for people until 3 pm without the permission of the National Center for Public Health (NVSC), it is possible to wash their place of isolation, come to one of the exclusive early voting locations for isolated voters in Vilnius, Kaunas, Šiauliai and Raseiniai, and exercise your right to vote.
How will the safety of people be guaranteed?
It is important to emphasize that there will be no early voting, there are 4 early voting seats. For example, in Vilnius, Laisvės Avenue 5, there is a Litexpo site, you can come. There is a place in Kaunas, Šiauliai, Raseiniai. And in those early voting places only people in self-isolation vote, they cannot go to other voters, so as not to mix, fears.
Other voters have early voting seats again. As for Vilnius, we have the same Sahara, Lukiškės square, Vilnius municipality, Saulėtekis, we can see that the interest is great from the morning. It seems that Sahara Square is a bit further away and may not be as easy to access, but today we noticed that there is a higher turnout of voters than in Lukiškės Square or in Vilnius Municipality.
We invite you to watch the entire conversation with CEC President Laura Matjošaityte in a video.
