Catering reps: about mandatory registration: people get up and go

The representatives of the catering establishments interviewed did not hide the fact that the introduction of mandatory customer registration complicates the work, but they state that they have experienced that some visitors are discouraged from sitting in cafes, pizzerias and other places by such registration and not by the threat of the coronavirus.

Feel uncomfortable

Irma, an employee of the vegan restaurant “Žalia pupa”, registers another customer before accepting the order on Wednesday’s visitors page. Name, surname, telephone.

“Visitors are not very satisfied with the record, there are many less this week. Fallen brutally. Half,” said the woman.

There has been a decrease in visitors not only for on-site meals, but also for those ordering take-out that don’t need to be registered. “Maybe it’s because people work remotely,” said a spokeswoman for a downtown restaurant.

Those who want to eat on the spot often feel upset, ask to introduce yourself. “He says his name, but admits that he is uncomfortable with that record,” said a Green Beans spokeswoman.

He said that he had not yet faced attempts to lie. “Almost everyone knows for whom the collected data will be used. Who does not know, I say, everything is fine,” said Irma, adding that if there were the same flow of visitors as before, the record would be very disturbing, but now they have come down so low that there is enough time and everything.

Ask for an identity document

Akvilė Lekavičiūtė, a quality manager at the Delano company, which runs the pizza chain as well as the Caif coffee chain, said that the mandatory registration is causing several reactions. “People are different and reactions are different. Some accept this as the norm, providing data in good faith. There are indignant people who disagree, thinking that all this is not necessary. Of course, there are some who just leave immediately, ”said the representative.

She said the government has a duty to verify that the real name is given, so employees ask customers to provide an identity document to make sure the person doesn’t make up their minds.

The interviewee added that people are probably the most outraged that they are asked to show an identity document.

There are indignant people who do not agree, thinking that all this is not necessary. Of course, there are those who just leave immediately.

“It doesn’t really make the job easier,” commented A. Lekavičiūtė. – But we accept that, we know that it is done for prevention and control purposes. We hope that the pandemic situation begins to improve. And we communicate to our clients that we must think positively. “

He said he hadn’t heard of colleagues trying to introduce themselves by a fancy name.

Some fill by hand, others phone

Viltė Žuromskaitė, director of “Višta puode”, told Kauno Diena that the flow of visitors has decreased significantly since Monday. According to her, it is not known what scares guests the most: the mandatory visitor registration or the increase in morbidity rates and the fact that Kaunas also entered the red zone.

“Speaking of the check-in process, I am looking forward to welcoming diners to the restaurant, they are very conscientious, they understand the seriousness of the situation and they check in without further comment. We expected a worse version “, – V. Žuromskaitė.

Visitors can register by filling out a paper questionnaire or an electronic QR code scanned over the phone. “The QR code is given priority, but these are people with different skills and technological knowledge. For some, it is more convenient to simply write down their data by hand. With that in mind, we offer both options, ”said the manager.

He said he didn’t know how much data should be provided to NVSC – people who visited on a particular half day or all day. There was no such instruction.

“We are in close contact with other restaurants. We share the latest knowledge, experiences and cooperate. The service sector is unanimous in this situation,” said V. Žuromskaitė.

He had the last contact with NVSC representatives in a fight when it was learned that people who were later diagnosed with COVID-19 had visited his restaurant.

We share the latest knowledge, experiences and cooperate. The service sector is united in its position.

Received a visit

“The number of visitors dropped significantly on the same day that registration was made mandatory. People don’t want to indulge in this nonsense. It has been cut in half,” said a spokesman for the Talutti’s restaurant on Mega.

Especially in the early days, there were several people who left after learning about the mandatory registration. “They came, they asked what was going on here, they found out when they found out. They say we will eat it at home ”, gave an example the restaurant representative.

He said that only people should be trusted because no one checks if they enter, for example, their correct phone number.

According to him, people complete the questionnaire both by hand and over the phone.

NVSC staff arrived at the restaurant on Monday, according to a restaurant spokesperson. When asked if people were registering, they advised them to print out paper questionnaires that the restaurant didn’t have ready on the first day.

All information is collected during the epidemiological study. This means that the person himself, being a citizen and aware, must provide the information requested by epidemiologists, indicate who he communicated with, where he visited and other important information.

Decide after the interview

We were interested in how the data collected during the registration of visitors to cafes and restaurants will be used.

“In this case, if it is established that a person has visited a catering place and it is assessed that other people may have had risk contact with him, NVSC will write to the company, to the owner, requesting data to assess the risk exposure, etc. , – Justina Petravičienė, specialist of the Internal Administration Division of the National Center for Public Health, told the portal kauno.diena.lt.

According to her, the decision of which of the visitors should be isolated is made by epidemiologists in contact with people. “Assess where the person was sitting and other things. In general, attention is asked of the people who visit these places ”, commented J. Petravičienė.

According to the information in their possession, there were no cases in which the data collected by the catering establishments was necessary.
