“Currently, the main focus of the Ministry of Transport and Communications was how to select the priorities for which we will pave the roads. That uncertainty, the political market, should not be the main message,” he told Delfi on Wednesday.

K. Adomaitis stated that he would not want to compare Jaroslav Narkevičius and Rokas Masiulis, the Transport Ministers of the outgoing Government.

“The most important thing is to bring the priorities of the Freedom Party, that is why I am not going to match other ministers. “Some good things have been done in the Rock Masiulis era, and we can refrain from commenting on the recent period,” he said.

Strange attitude

K. Adomaitis, who was elected a member of Seimas on the Freedom Party list, emphasized that the Ministry of Transport and Communications will be responsible for a large part of the implementation of the European Green Course in the near future.

As you know, the European Green Course is an action plan to promote resource efficiency in the transition to a clean circular economy, restore biodiversity and reduce pollution.

“We need to change the approach to transportation so that it’s not just about cars, there must be alternatives. We need to set priorities not according to where and who owns the home or lives, but according to where we can fundamentally change the convenience of transportation, ”said the interviewee about his priorities.

K. Adomaitis also spoke about some issues related to communication, which receive more attention in public space.

Rail Baltica is a very important project, just like other infrastructures. The entire economic development of Lithuania for many years will depend on its success. I think the Vilnius connection is especially important for Rail Baltics, because otherwise the project could be even more damaging.

If there is no connection with Vilnius, it will be easier to go from Riga to Riga. It can be a big challenge, “he said.

Speaking of the proposal to establish virtual airlines, K. Adomaitis said that it is a business project.

“Lithuania has the funds to invest in infrastructure objects. Virtual airlines are a business project and the state should not do business. If we have good airports, a convenient and well-adapted infrastructure, connections with Lithuania will appear and the state does not have to. do it, ”he said.

Due to the discussion about the new airport between Vilnius and Kaunas, the ministerial candidate was not categorical.

“All environmental aspects, benefits and benefits need to be well evaluated. How much would the flows really change, what would the recovery be. Then decide if you need another airport,” he said.

K. Adomaitis also noted that the transport and logistics sector in Lithuania is strong and we should be proud of that and help him.

“Clearly, there is a nuance in drivers’ working conditions and a healthy balance needs to be struck,” he said.

According to the Freedom Party website, K. Adomaitis, 37, was born in Vilnius. He graduated from the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga and studied comparative psychology and politics at Vilnius University.

From 2011 to 2020, K. Adomaitis worked as an urban analyst at the strategic market research company Euromonitor International, is married and has three children.
