This was announced by Evelina Gudzinskaitė, director of the Migration Department of the Ministry of the Interior (MoI), after a meeting with the opposition of the Seimas, Union of the Union of the Homeland-Christian Democrats of Lithuania.

“The decision on the specific details is currently being agreed between the Ministries of the Interior and Foreign Affairs. It should be clear in a few days. This would be a facilitation, as minimum requirements apply, but it would be a tool to allow Belarusians who do not want to apply for asylum but who want to leave Belarus come to Lithuania and get that document as quickly and easily as possible. And the six-month period is about thinking about the additional social consequences that they still have to find some source of livelihood .

Actually, during these six months, they should find another reason to stay in Lithuania, that is, to apply for another national visa on another basis or to apply for a residence permit, ”E. Gudzinskait reported to journalists.
Commenting on the next document, he said it was planned that Belarusians would have to provide less proof of available funds.

“So far, we are talking about income for several months, because otherwise, when issuing a visa for 6 months, it is necessary to demonstrate that you will have the amount of the monthly minimum wage for the 6 months. This is a lot, so the amount of the claims is reduced to a few months and what that particular amount will be currently being negotiated. In any case, you will need to have health insurance, ”explained E. Gudzinskaitė.

The head of the migration department did not promise to predict how many people would seek to take advantage of this opportunity.

“It is difficult to predict, but according to the number of incoming calls, it should be more than applying for asylum and more than enjoying access to Lithuania with the special permission of the Minister.” But it will depend specifically on how events unfold in Belarus itself, ”said E. Gudzinskaitė.

On Monday, the opposition Lithuanian Christian Democratic Union-National Union faction held a meeting on the “humanitarian corridor” and other issues related to the situation in Belarus.

The head of the State Border Guard Service, Rustama Liubajev, also attended the faction meeting.
