“A prototype of a Belarusian convertible convertible was presented to the Head of State. According to its developers, this electric car may compete with Tesla products in the future. (…) It is light and maneuverable, with improved dynamic performance that can reach speeds of up to 170 kilometers per hour (with an ed. load) and drive 270 kilometers, ”says the report.

Lukashenko favorably evaluated the electric car, as well as other exhibits, and did not skimp on the creators of the praise.

“It just caught our eye then. I didn’t expect this could be created in a short time,” said the Belarusian leader.

However, he emphasized that it is too early to speak about serious and world-class revolutionary achievements in the development and production of electric transport.

“Until now, this is the first stage to familiarize yourself with the performance of the established tasks. There will be a second, and then we will talk more specifically about the results of the work. To properly evaluate them, we need to find out if it meets international standards, analyze the perspectives I want to say that we are not creating a toy, but a product that will have to be sold in the markets and generate income, “stressed the President of Belarus.

Lukashenko, who tested the latest Tesla electric car model in late summer 2018, stated that Belarus should undertake a similar project immediately. The Belarus Academy of Sciences was instructed to design a Belarusian electric car and to prototype it.

“Electric cars are the product of innovation. Their production was made by countries that realized that the internal combustion engine is obsolete. I think that in some places there will be a massive change to electric cars in 2025, in others, a shortly thereafter. “We have a car factory (the Chinese car assembly company Geely near Minsk – ed.), which should also produce electric cars,” Lukashenko said at the time.
