Officials from the Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Interior Ministry located a student who “not only posted personal data of law enforcement officers on chat sites, but also campaigned to participate in the mass unrest in the Minsk region” Chemadanova wrote.

According to her, among the victims is the head of an investigation unit, about whom the detainee spread “false and defamatory data.” A criminal proceeding for defamation has been initiated.

At the time, the Minsk militia reported that some 100 people had been detained in the capital on Sunday during further protests.

Belarus has faced massive protests for the fifth month in a row over the presidential election on August 9, which was declared the winner by Alexander Lukashenko, who has ruled the country since 1994. The opposition and western democracies consider these elections to be rigged.

The protesters are demanding the resignation of Lukashenko, the release of political prisoners and new elections. Among the methods used by the protesters is the disclosure of data by employees of power structures that severely repress the protests.

Former Belarusian beauty queen Volha Chizhynkova, convicted of participating in the protests, was also announced on Sunday.

A report by the Belarusian Sports Solidarity Foundation on the social network Facebook says that the mannequin, winner of the 2008 “Miss Belarus” beauty pageant and a participant in the international “Miss World” pageant, spent a total of 42 days behind bars.

V. Chižynkova, a former spokesperson for the Brest Dynama-Brest football club, was arrested on 8 November during a protest. She was tried separately for three episodes of participation in the protests, for which the mannequin was sentenced to 12 days and two to 15 days in prison. As the time of her arrest had not been summarized, Ms. Chižynkova, whose sentence began on November 26, was due to be released on December 11, but was not released at that time.

V. Chižynkova actively participated in opposition protests and advocated for democratic change. In mid-September, she was fired from the Belarusian National School of Beauty.
