The Lithuanian Trade Association announced on Monday that it supports the government’s restrictions and promises to implement the strictest quarantine conditions.

The association also asks shoppers to know them and not invade the points of sale in the last days before the closing of the stores.

“Merchants, for their part, will implement all the requirements, although they will be painful for business. However, at the same time we want to ask buyers: stay aware, stay home and do not go to stores these days,” said R Vainienė in a press release.

“Our own conscience is the best weapon against the further uncontrolled spread of the virus,” he added.

According to R.Vainienė, merchants have been investing heavily since spring to enable customers to shop safely in the electronic space.

“Therefore, without waiting for the new quarantine requirements to take effect, we invite everyone to stay serious and move Christmas shopping into the electronic space,” said the merchant representative.

He also urged shopping online at grocery stores and, for those who can’t, plan ahead, buy in bulk in the future, and avoid large flows of people.

In the morning the flow is less from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., in the afternoon from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

“It will only depend on the responsibility and focus of all of us how quickly we can return to the normal rhythm of life,” said R.Vainienė.

As of Wednesday, it will also be forbidden to leave home in Lithuania without an important reason. Educational institutions will work remotely, but kindergartens will have to accept children if their parents do not have the opportunity to work remotely. These conditions are valid until January 31st.

Last day 1919 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed, killing 10 people from COVID-19. The number of confirmed cases on Sundays is typically lower than on other days due to lower test volumes.
