“We have expressed all our sorrows, our situation, the president met him and said that on Monday there will be a meeting of the president with Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė and our fate will be decided,” J. Mačiulienė told BNS.

“We hope it is favorable for us and we can start working.” (…) We have said that we can provide safe services and work safely ”, he added.

Dalia Matukienė, president of the Council of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, and Rūta Vainienė, director of the Lithuanian Business Enterprise Association, also participated in the meeting with the president. The situation of small and medium-sized companies and the willingness of companies to operate safely in the conditions of a pandemic were analyzed.

“The stricter quarantine has improved the epidemiological situation in the country. However, the second wave of the pandemic has hit small and medium-sized companies hard, especially those companies or freelancers who trade non-essential goods or provide contact services. As the pandemic situation changes, we must find a safe new balance between epidemiological and socio-economic objectives, ”G. Nausėda is quoted in the report.

According to the president, companies must responsibly strengthen themselves and adhere to safe operating standards until the public acquires herd immunity, because their own ability to operate more freely depends on it.

Delphi recalls that, following Monday’s meeting of the Government Emergency Commission (WESC), it was decided to allow the resumption of ski resorts and promised that decisions on beauty salons and shops with access from abroad would be made “in the next days”. But on Wednesday, the government decided not to consider the issue of business liberalization. This issue is said to be addressed next week. This sparked outrage among business representatives. D. Matukienė, president of the Council of Small and Medium Enterprises, said on Thursday that some companies are preparing to go to court.
