This was Barcelona’s fourth game in a week.

Last Friday, Shar achieved victory in Kaunas, and two days later they beat Las Palmas Gran Canaria, represented by Tomas Dimša, in the ACB championship.

The hosts of Palau Blaugrana took a cold shower at the beginning of the match: the first seven shots of the Šarūnas Jasikevičius students did not reach the goal, the Olympiacos basketball players took all five shots, shooting from the first minutes 12: 0 .

Although the Catalan club scored 30 points in the second half, they ran a 47:51 deficit at the long break.

Šarūnas soldier Jasikevičius chased the opponents throughout the match. In the 35th minute of the game, Nikola Mirotičius’s colón tied the score at 77:77.

A minute and a half before the end of the game, Barcelona player Leandro Bolmaro was sentenced to a non-sports foul, and two precise penalties by Aaron Harrison and a triple by Shaquille McKissico raised Olympiacos’ lead to 7 points – 89:82.

Kosto Slouk’s colon, 38 seconds before the referee’s final whistle, increased the guests’ lead to 7 points. Then Greek Nick Calathes scored 4 points in a row, Aaron Harrison missed both free throws, thus reviving Šarūnas Jasikevičius’s hope of winning.

Faith in victory quickly faded when Shar, unhappy with the referees’ decision, was fouled and Olympiakos striker Alexander Vezenkov made no mistake from the penalty line.

Hassan Martín, the rival pivot, hit the decisive nail in Barcelona’s coffin with the final siren.

Olympiacos have managed to stop the leaders of Barcelona. Nikola Mirotičius scored 12 points in the first half of the game, 2 added in the second half. Nick Calathes, the main organizer of the attacks, has only 9 points and 2 assists.

The hosts were not spared and shot perfectly with long shots (9 of 21). Olympiakos also attacked solidly from the 3-point zone: 10 of 23.

Barcelona will play the next game next Friday when Italian coach Ettore Messina visits Milan with Olimpia in Milan.
