According to the Estonian Ministry, such a decision is related to the deterioration of the epidemiological situation in Estonia.

Lithuania does not cross Latvia’s red border this week, so Lithuanians will also be able to travel freely to this neighboring country next week.

Remember that Lithuania and Estonia decided on Friday to change the COVID-19 morbidity poster, which will be added to the list of affected countries. It will no longer be 16, but 25 cases per 100,000. population in 14 days.

Latvia remained within the limit of 16 cases and criticized Lithuania’s move.

Latvia declares that exemptions can be granted for travelers from Estonia for certain work, academic, health, childcare and family reasons. Additionally, travelers in transit are exempt from the isolation requirement.

Riga decided to maintain free movement in the cities of Valga and Valka, through which the Estonian-Latvian border passes. However, only residents who have not traveled outside the township area in the past two weeks will be exempt from isolation.

The new restrictions will not affect the free movement of goods.

Travelers in transit are exempt from the requirement to isolate themselves.

When arriving in Latvia by international transport, it will be mandatory to fill in the form issued, indicating, among other things, which countries the person has visited in the last two weeks.

Those arriving in Latvia from high-risk countries should wear a protective mask in public places. The government recommends that these people refrain from having contact with those around them and that they take precautions when working.

A person subject to the isolation requirement has the right to return to his country or change the quarantine place while wearing a mask, after informing the Latvian police.
