He died while pulling teeth
As reported independent, that is, Killian Mac Lochlainn, owner of the Wild Ireland Game Reserve in County Donegal, has announced the death of one of the bears that lived in the shelter: the bear Aurnia wanted to remove two teeth, but when she fell asleep she stopped breathing badly. suddenly. Veterinarians and the owner of the reserve himself tried to revive her, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
The portal noted that Aurnia’s first years of life were not the most fun, as she lived in a small cage in Lithuania, from where she came to Ireland and became one of the main decorations in the park.
In a video posted by Mac Lochlainn on Facebook, he sensitively says that the last years of Aurnia’s life were happy, she roamed vast areas of wild Ireland, the bear was well cared for, she had enough of the right food.
“She has lived here for just over a year and has had a pretty good life, which is the only thing that comforts us all now. We loved her very much, ”said the owner of the reserve.
In this video you can see how the bears have fun in the reserve. According to its owner, they would like to remember such Aurnia.
I’m always afraid of falling asleep
The fact that the bear Aurnia, who was transferred from Lithuania to Ireland, died was also confirmed by the director of the CAT Animal Rights and Protection Organization, Brigita Kymantaitė.
“Yesterday, our colleagues also received a message about their bear. This is one of us relocated. Unfortunately … It is not very easy with the wild animals transferred from Lithuania. We have already organized 12 wildlife transfer operations, including 10 bears. We and our foreign colleagues are always very concerned about anesthesia when we move them, because the owners do not care about the health of the captive animals in Lithuania.
Animals are not inspected by veterinarians, nobody observes changes in their health or the like. The diet of the animals is the waste of human food from the supermarkets, nearby cafes and not the food necessary for a particular species. The bad environment, malnutrition, the lack of veterinary attention are components that make it difficult to predict the health of a particular animal, the development of internal organs ”. 15 minutes B.Kymantaitė said.
We are always very concerned about anesthesia when we move animals, because the owners do not take care of the health of the captive animals in Lithuania at all.
The head of the CAT emphasized that in Lithuania, bears are generally kept only to attract visitors, so their living conditions are often extremely bad. The fact that such a young bear’s teeth were broken also shows that it was malnourished from a young age.
“We are very happy that Killian has given the teddy bear all the necessary care and the natural environment at its center, and that he has not yet seen a different real life in the forest.” In Lithuania, you will never see a bear play like this, run to swim, ”said B. Kymantaitė.
A bear reserve is established in Lithuania
Aurnia with two sisters Donnacha and Rionach left for Ireland in the first days of 2019. In Lithuania, the bears lived in the Grūtas Zoo and, according to animal welfare organizations, they were kept in inadequate conditions.

At that time, according to B.Kymantaitė, six bears lived in Grūtas Park. The Ministry of the Environment turned to animal guardians because four were illegally detained and did not have the necessary documents. As a result, a place was found and the three sisters met first in Belgium and then in Ireland. The fourth bear died suddenly, and the animal handlers heard a reply from it from the owner of Grūtas Park.
This year, three shaky bears celebrated their fifth birthday over the New Year. On that occasion, the animal rights and protection organization GATO wrote on Facebook that the bears received a holiday cake specially prepared for them with apples, carrots, eggs, peanut butter, honey and other bears’ favorite delicacies.
It was also recalled that there are more bears in Lithuania, which are kept in captivity for commercial purposes, so they must be transferred to conditions that meet their needs. There is a lack of places in foreign reserves, so it was decided to create such conditions for the establishment of a bear reserve in Lithuania and the Telšiai district by reorganizing a part of the “Žv“ rinčius ”that was already there.

So far, the works of the reserve have been suspended somewhat due to bureaucratic obstacles, but, as B. Kymantaitė says, the plans have not been abandoned, the design is underway.
