“Unfortunately, COVID-19 poses a great risk to people over 55 years of age, so we are grateful to the Government for the greater number of vaccines that we can allocate to protect this priority group. We have opened a vaccination center in the Litexpo facilities, we can vaccinate a lot and fast, now the most important thing is that everyone who wants to register as soon as possible website“Said Remigijus Šimašius, mayor of Vilnius.

You can register and choose the desired vaccination schedule here.

Due to the bad situation, he received more vaccinations.

R. Šimašius claimed that the municipality “had data on a number of vaccines” as of Monday and learned of SAM’s decision to prescribe additional doses on Monday. The mayor said he did not know exactly why he had decided to redistribute the vaccines to the capital, and said he had received information on the reasons “directly from the government, on Monday.”

“We did not know the exact reasons, we could only speculate on who he was related to. Now it is clear that this is due to the fact that the government has taken into account the difficult situation of the hospitals in Vilnius. It is true that it is possible to wonder if it was clear or not of the past, but in any case I am glad that this has been taken into account, “he said.

It is now clear that this is due to the fact that the Government has taken into account the difficult situation of hospitals in Vilnius.

However, the mayor acknowledged that the decision to redistribute the vaccines was made as a result of his calls.

“As for whose initiative, whose decision was made, of course, he constantly spoke of the need for more vaccines in Vilnius. Because even after these receipts we are far from the maximum number of vaccinations 100 thousand. Population received, others Some cities, often inflected, have received significantly more. I am very happy that such a decision was made, and if the communication was inappropriate, then apparently apologies or similar things are given, I hope, “said R. Šimašius.

Among other things, the mayor of Vilnius acknowledged that the additional vaccines would help to manage the deterioration of the situation, but called the method of their administration unacceptable.

On Monday, the Ministry of Health announced that the vaccination centers in the capital have decided to allocate 46,000. 512 doses of vaccine. Part of this amount – 19.8 thousand. previously planned for other municipalities. The latter say they have had to cancel the planned vaccination of some people due to redistributions.

According to Health Minister Arūnas Dulkis, this was due to a particularly bad epidemiological situation in the Vilnius region.

As Marius Čiurlionis, an adviser to the Ministry, informed BNS on Tuesday, the number of patients treated in resuscitation in the Vilnius region has risen particularly rapidly in the past week, currently 81 patients are being treated here, compared to 66 a week ago.

“The advance itself took place at the end of the work week and the decision was made at the beginning of the next work week,” he said.

According to a ministry spokesperson, about 100 patients were treated for resuscitation during the second wave of the peak.

“Apparently it is a matter of a few days here when employment returns to the same level as in December and January,” he said.

According to the Santara clinics, 687 beds were occupied in the region, 81 of them in resuscitation rooms. In total, COVID-19 patients are expected to receive just over 800 beds.

Speaking about the situation in Vilnius medical institutions, R. Šimašius emphasized that the Vilnius Clinical Hospital constantly has “only a few or a dozen” free beds for COVID-19 patients.

He stressed that the capital sees the possibility of installing some 50 extra beds in the hospital, as well as talks with other hospitals in the region.

The situation is tense, but it is certainly not tragic.

“The situation is tense, but it is certainly not tragic (…). The situation is managed, in any case, we can expand the number of beds, until now there is no need to adopt any other measures today, “said R. Šimašius.
