The Olympic distance relay teams were not short of the country’s sports stars. Olympic champion Laura Asadauskaitė-Zadneprovskienė started in one of the teams’ career matches, competed by her husband, Athens vice-Olympic champion and bronze medalist of the Beijing Olympics, Andrejs Zadneprovskis. “First experience in triathlon, Olympic distance relays! It was fun to feel the spirit of the competition after that time and win 3rd place, ”said L. Asadauskaitė-Zadneprovskienė, whose team was competed by former pentathlete Gytis Gudlevičius in addition to her husband.

Rio de Janeiro’s Olympic vice-champions, rowers Saulius Ritter and Mindaugas Griškonis and Dominykas Jančionis were happy with the relay victory, second place was won by rowing trio Aurimas Adomavičius, Dovydas Nemeravičius and marathon runner Diana Lobačevskė.

Džiugas Karklelis (Ignalinos KKSC) – 1.06: 40 hours, Tomas Burbulis (Trakai triathlon sail) – 1.07: 37 hours, Third Eugenijus Rakitinas finished in the sprint competition, where the athletes swam 750 m, 20 km and ran 5 km . (Ignalina KKSC) – 1.08: 6 pm

L. Prokopavičius triumphed in the general classification, having secured the title before the Druskininkai stage (3025), second J. Karklelis (2966), third – Tadas Cesevičius (Panevėžys Triathlon Club, 2910).

Viktorija Senkutė (Trakai triathlon group, 1.14: 25 hrs.), Rugilė Girštautaitė (DSK „Darna“, 1.18: 50 hrs.), Ula Giniotytė (ORKOS) – 1.19: 39 hrs.

Ugne Pauryte (Panevėžys R. Sargūnas Gymnasium, 3025) won the title of the overall winner, R. Girštautaitė in second place, U. Giniotytė in third place.

In the TRI-FUN competition for newcomers and children, participants swam 200 m, mile 10 km and ran 2.5 km, members of the Panevėžys Triathlon Club Kristupas Rimkus (33:14 min.) And Gabrielė Garbauskaitė (37:40 min. ).

The triumph of the youth against the four winners of the season

The triathlon celebration was capped off by an intriguing mixed tag team relay race in which the strongest triathlon clubs in the country battled, delegating their probably strongest athletes. The team consisted of two women and two men, each member of the team had to swim 150 m, pedal 3.75 km and run 0.75 km. The girls started first, the relay was passed to the boys after the distances covered, then the second team member began, the competition was completed by the boys.

And this competition with a lot met the expectations of the spectators: the fight and the intrigue of the athletes distracted the fans until the last meters, and the winner was announced after a dramatic finale.

After the start, the pace was dictated by I. Aukselytė, a member of the Tritonas club, but halfway through the competition, the Panevėžys triathlon club prevailed in the leading position. After I. Paplauskė’s performance, the “newts” broke out slightly again. In the last part of the relay after swimming “triton”, Vytautas Jazepčikas led Titus Pumputis of Panevėžys in just a few seconds, and in the bicycle race both athletes ran one after the other.

V. Jazepčikas finished the first cycle race, reaching the traffic zone at high speed and did not maintain his balance when getting off the bicycle and fell and hit the protective fence.

A few seconds lost cost the “newts” dearly, and T. Pumputis took advantage of the opponent’s peeling, who went barefoot in the last match, dictated the pace and snatched a dramatic victory from the young triathletes of Panevėžys. The total result of the winners was 49:53 minutes, the “newts” were only 4 seconds away. (49:57 min.), Kaunas triathlon club ranked third – 50:55 min. In total, 11 triathlon clubs competed in the mixed-team relays.

In the general classification of the Lithuanian triathlon cup clubs, the title was defended by Tritonas, second place was taken by the Kaunas triathlon club and third place was taken by HighPeaks Lietuva.

The cup competition is over, but the season is not over yet: the country’s triathlon community will meet in Trakai on September 19, the Ironman (3.8 km swimming, 180 km cycling, 42 m running) or half of the Ironman competition (1.9 km / 90 km / 21 km).
