People are soaked from the intense heat in bodies of water, but there are also many disasters there, with more than thirty people drowned in the country last summer and the first days of July.

Baking at a temperature of 29 degrees, Eugenijus from Vilnius cools down next to the Neris with his grandson. And, as he says, he blinks there every day, as if it were otherwise difficult in the city, and he would find it: Come on, we bathe, and without water it is impossible. Well, if this weather lasts another two months, let’s get used to it, I think. “

Compatriots who rest on the beach say that it is difficult to stay within the walls of the house. Bitter and at night – sowing insomnia. You have to find ways to refresh yourself.

The head of the cardiology department of the Vilnius City Clinical Hospital reveals that on those hot days, COVID-19 patients are replaced by compatriots with severe overheating, chronic diseases and heart problems.

Cardiologist dr. Mykolas Biliukas says: “That fever took these patients to the hospitals and now to the cabins, in the rooms where people were deposited. Because they are more or less suffering from that heat wave. “

Your doctor advises you to avoid direct sunlight during peak heat, 12 to 4 pm Drink plenty of fluids, cool with water, and if possible avoid strenuous exercise during heat.

“Do not organize marathons, sports trips, self-assessments. Often people are brought to resuscitation from the track by people who did not complete the distance, fell, found blood pressure and the blood thickened,” says M. Biliukas.

According to the doctor, when you feel the first signs of overheating – dizziness, nausea, you should immediately seek the shade, lie down, lift your legs, if there is a possibility to take care of cooling compresses. However, if the discomfort does not go away or worsens, call a doctor immediately.

Conditioners that compatriots like so much are being removed from store shelves, but doctors warn: while the latter are great, they shouldn’t be overdosed.

“Basically, air conditioning is a great thing, as is the wind. Finally, a high air current cools a person. But you have to pay to get by with the air conditioning. Do not make a greater difference inside the seven degrees than outside, because like a strange heat it is accompanied by a wave of colds ”, says M. Biliukas.

For many people, resuscitation in bodies of water is inevitable and disaster is inevitable. The head of the civil protection department of the Vilnius Fire and Rescue Board reveals the sad statistics for the first month of summer.

Donatas Gurevičius, head of the Department of Civil Protection, says: “Unfortunately, 27 drowned people have been taken out, and we also have several events in July, when people who had drowned had to be taken out of bodies of water.”

Four compatriots drowned during the first days of July in the districts of Biržai, Kaunas, Trakai and Vilnius.

“It just came to our knowledge then. And in such situations, when choosing bodies of water, people should pay attention to the fact that those bodies of water are remote, well known. Well, it is ideal to choose a body of water where they are from rescuers are guarding. And there they are more likely to save you, “says D. Gurevičius.

The authorities ask residents to enjoy the pleasures of water, to act responsibly, not to drink alcohol, not to bathe in unfamiliar places.
