As symptomatic cases increase, prophylactic examinations are limited

“We do a lot of research every day, we are among the countries where we probably do the most testing, it is really a very heavy workload for the labs, and we really try to test symptomatic people first and test the groups where the risk is highest: the health care workers, nurses and care workers, where they are needed most, where the risk is greatest, “said A. Veryga at a press conference on Friday.

“As a result, certain preventive tests are restricted, as the scope of those other tests has increased significantly,” the minister said.

According to Paulius Keras, deputy director of the Kaunas municipal administration, the order that municipalities could send certain groups of people for preventive examinations changed a few weeks ago.

Municipalities took this opportunity to survey employees of companies with chimneys.

“Currently we have a problem that as soon as we investigate cases, because we have taken over the study of outbreaks of the National Center for Public Health, we see that the biggest problem is not supermarkets or schools, but we see the family-work-place movement of work-family: from families to the workplace, there is a fireplace, that fireplace goes to families and extends to other workplaces through families, ”said P. Keras.

“It would be very relevant if we had the opportunity to select those high-risk groups in companies where chimneys are already being formed and carry out preventive tests,” he said.

Every day several thousand to several thousand tests for the coronavirus are carried out in Lithuania.
