As of Monday, the control of passengers arriving in Lithuania from abroad will be strengthened

Under this decision, checkpoints completed by passengers by the National Public Health Center (NVSC) will be verified at checkpoints at entry points, and the results and timing of COVID-19 testing will be evaluated. (coronavirus infection) available to passengers.

In accordance with the aforementioned decision of the Head of State Operations, the Ministry of Transport and Communications instructed Lithuanian airports and the Klaipeda State Port Authority to ensure that points were installed to improve passenger screening in the country’s international airports and passenger terminals operating in the port of Klaipeda. . Specialists from the State Border Guard Service (SBGS), NVSC, and airport and seaport passenger terminals will work together.

It has been established that all passengers arriving in Lithuania from abroad must pass through these checkpoints before leaving the airports or seaport. Enhanced controls are scheduled for February 8. 8 pm in the morning.

In preparation for further enhanced controls, the flow of arrivals to Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga international airports will be reorganized. The documents of all arriving passengers, both Schengen and non-Schengen, and, if necessary, COVID-19 test results will be checked in the airport arrival areas after baggage claim. All passengers must present the above documents to the SBGS officials and NVSC employees who received them.

Arriving passengers are asked to anticipate that additional screening procedures will inevitably require more time. All passengers are requested to ensure that all documents are ready for inspection before or during the journey and to present them correctly to the officials working at the checkpoints. This will facilitate inspection and save time for passengers.

Improved checkpoints will be installed in the port of Klaipeda at the UAB Klaipėda central terminal and at the UAB Klaipėdos container terminal. The control points were instructed to install the operators of these terminals. Analogous verification procedures and regulated passenger flows will apply here.

We remind you that the control of the documents of the incoming passengers was carried out before these changes, it was carried out exclusively by NVSC specialists, and after these changes, the control will be the joint responsibility of the officials of SBGS and NVSC.
