“He is still far from coming back,” Pacers strategist told Indiana journalist Scott Agness of Fieldhouse Files.
A week has passed since Sabonis left the Orlando bubble due to inflammation of the arch of the foot. However, the Indiana club has yet to provide any new official details about the Lithuanian’s possible return to qualifying.
CBS Sports speculates that Sabonis now appears to be in the weeks since he returned to the field, if not in the renewed NBA season.
The 24-year-old remains the only Pacers player to leave the Orlando bubble.
The center, which has experienced foot pain since late June, went to Los Angeles, where it is seeking alternative trauma treatments with a personal specialist. In Los Angeles, D. Sabonis generally plays each of his NBA offseason.
According to Agness, this type of trauma requires rest, but Sabonis still combines his treatment with strength exercises.
Before leaving for Los Angeles, Sabonis and three Pacers specialists were actively looking for ways to reduce pain. But without finding any suitable treatment, the basketball player went to his personal specialist to rehabilitate him.
“Every day we try new treatments and try to reduce the pain. But with such an injury, you never know when it can suffocate it. The pain got worse when we started playing five-on-five in Orlando,” Sabonis said before leaving the NBA bubble.
According to Indiana reporters, he has not played sports since July 15.
Until the renewed NBA season, D. Sabonis in the ranks of the Pacers in an average of 35 minutes. 18.5 points, 12.4 rebounds and 5 assists.
The Pacers have won the first game of the NBA’s extended season in Orlando against the Philadelphia 76ers and are fifth in the Eastern Conference.
The NBA playoffs are scheduled to begin on August 17.
