Artists, athletes and doctors who fought against COVID-19 were awarded in the presidency

Rimvydas Tumas, Head of the Department of Day Surgery at the Panevėžys Republican Hospital, and Dalius Vitkus, Head of the Laboratory Medicine Center of the Santara Clinics of the Vilnius University Hospital, received state awards.

Also awarded were Šarūnas Mačinskas, Head of the Outpatient Services Coordination Service of the Kaunas Clinics, Rokas Abraitis, Deputy Director of the Life Sciences Center of the Vilnius University, and Kristina Daniūnaitė, researcher of the Genetic Diagnostic Laboratory of the National Institute Cancer.

Donatas Miezenas, doctor of the Ukmergė Hospital and Marius Ellikas, Emergency Coordinator of the Emergency and Admission Department of the Šiauliai Republican Hospital, Deputy Director of the Institute of Biosciences of the Life Sciences Center of the University of Vilnius, who gathered a team of volunteers to study COVID-19

Athletes, artists, scientists, sponsors and other well-known figures from Lithuanian and foreign society were also honored with the awards.

Among them is the European pentathlete and world champion Laura Asadauskaitė-Zadneprovskienė. The highest order is dedicated to him: the Grand Cross of the Commander of the Order of Gediminas.

Opera soloist Violeta Urmanavičiūtė-Nigro, Nobel Laureate in Economics Robertas Shiller, writer, translator and art critic Alfonsas Andriuškevičius, professor at Klaipėda University and archaeologist Vladas Žulkus also received awards on the occasion of State Day.

The awards were also presented to the president of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, Jūris Banis, the businessman and patron Ramūnas Garbaravičius, art critic Rūta Janonienė, actors Liubomir Laucevičius, Jūratė Onaitytė, composer Maolelis, actor and director Valentinas Masalskis, choreographer Para Marche and others.

The winners list includes Justas Janauskas, Mantas Mikuckas and Milda Mitkutė, the founders of Lithuania’s first unicorn starter Vinted.

On July 6, the President awards prizes to famous and deserving people of Lithuania on the occasion of the coronation day of King Mindaugas of Lithuania.
