The cause of this situation is once again the coronavirus. On Tuesday night, ASVEL did not play its first match scheduled for this week – the third round match with Panathinaikos of Athens was canceled almost at the last minute. As the club’s representatives told the Greek media, the team learned of the match cancellation already on the bus on the way to the arena.

ASVEL is trying to fight a club-infested coronavirus infection. Yesterday it was announced that the French club cannot even register 8 players for the match, which are mandatory for Euroleague matches.

We remind you that on Wednesday the Euroleague conceded two technical defeats at 0:20 to the Zenit Saint Petersburg team, which for the same reason did not attend the third and fourth day of the Euroleague against Spain at all.

Technical losses based on such logic must also be addressed by ASVEL.

The Euroleague’s decision to punish Zenit has received extremely critical reactions from the team’s players. “It just came to our notice then. We risk our health and we are separated from our families, but we are punished,” Billy Baron wrote on social media. “It just came to our attention then.
