According to official statistics published this Saturday, 100 thousand 124.9 new cases of coronavirus infection were reported in the population in the last 14 days. On average, this indicator is lower in Lithuanian municipalities: 1,146.5 cases.

Of the 27 deaths from an aggressive and ruthless virus recorded in the country last day, 8 occurred in Kaunas County. So far, 94 deaths from coronavirus have been recorded in Kaunas, another 31 infected residents of the city have died from other diseases.

The number of COVID-19 cases registered in Kaunas has already exceeded 10,000 (10,071 cases of the disease have been registered so far). There are currently 41.74 residents of Kaunas recognized as healthy. Currently, 5,772 city residents have COVID-19.

ELTA already announced on Saturday that there are currently 50,300 people in Lithuania and 38,768 people have recovered from the coronavirus. 791 died and another 394 became infected with coronavirus for other reasons. The change in daily cases is 15%. (Exactly a week ago, there were 2,849 new cases per day, now – 3303).

Kaunas district ranks 18th on the morbidity map (1232.6 new cases were detected per 100,000 inhabitants in two weeks). COVID-19 is currently affected in 1997. 3,242 cases of the disease were confirmed in the district, 1205 people recovered.

According to representatives of the National Center for Public Health, 6 patients with coronavirus infection died in Vilnius county last day. According to the most recent statistical data, Vilnius district now ranks 24th (1,159.3 cases) out of 60 Lithuanian municipalities in terms of morbidity, and Vilnius city ranks 37th (930 cases – 100,000 inhabitants).

The situation in the list of municipalities of the Kėdainiai district, which continues to lead the incidence of COVID-19, remains a particularly difficult situation: here 1932.1 new cases were counted for every 100,000 cases in 14 days. population.

Doctors fighting the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in Lithuania have no doubt that even with the strictest quarantine measures, the situation will not improve much if society does not comply with those restrictions.

Professor Vidas Pilvinis, head of the Intensive Care Clinic at the Kaunas University Health Sciences Hospital of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, who faced many serious losses during the pandemic, publicly urged everyone to think about it, looking forward to the celebrations of the big year. He warned that people in a festive mood want to get together, hug, see family and friends. But now we must remember that we are all responsible not only for ourselves, but also for our mothers, children, neighbors or friends.
