An inmate who escaped from Alytus correctional facilities in March was arrested

The wanted person was arrested Wednesday on the Vilnius-Kaunas highway in a joint operation with officers from the Kaunas County Chief Police Station. When the police officers stopped a car designated by officers from the Criminal Intelligence Board of the Department of Prisons, the refugee had no identity document and presented himself to the police officers in a foreign name. Due to this incident, the Criminal Intelligence Board of the Department of Prisons is conducting a pre-trial investigation in accordance with article 241 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania. (“Escape from a prisoner”). The convict also faces up to 3 years in prison.

A 29-year-old man is serving a custodial sentence at the Alytus Correctional Center for criminal offenses under article 178 of the Penal Code. (“Theft”), Art. 180, (“Theft”) and Art. (“Mild health disorder”).
