After the implementation of the project, it is planned to establish and develop Kaunas AIPP of state importance, which would allow to increase the competitiveness of the country’s businesses, attract foreign and local investors, create new jobs with high added value, promote innovative and sustainable activities in industry and services. It is planned to establish the industrial park on a plot of almost 30.2 ha in the territory of the Aleksotas nursing home of the Kaunas city municipality.
“During the implementation of the Kaunas Industrial Innovation Park project, it is expected to attract at least 90 million. create at least 1,100 long-term jobs. It is also planned to establish 3 branches of research and study institutions, to install and launch a business incubator ”, says Marius Skuodis, Vice Minister of Economy and Innovation.
The project executor, the Kaunas City Municipality, together with the selected industrial park operator, is expected to implement this project in three stages. The first phase is scheduled for 2031, the second phase for 2041 and the third phase for 2046.
The National Progress Plan for 2021-2030 foresees a strategic objective: to advance towards a sustainable economic development based on knowledge, advanced technologies and innovations and to increase the international competitiveness of the country. To achieve this objective, it is expected to increase foreign direct and domestic investment, especially in the high-technology and knowledge-intensive service sectors, as well as to create new jobs in these sectors, promote economic growth and increase added value.
The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, when presenting the aforementioned project to the Government, emphasized that the absence of a special territory for the development of production and services in Kaunas, where a large part of the population and scientific institutions are concentrated, does not it allows to maximize the potential of Lithuanian industry and science. foreign direct investment with added value.
By preparing the respective territory in the Aleksotas district of Kaunas city, it would be possible to attract foreign and local investors, establish the formation of a core of knowledge and high technologies in the Kaunas region.
