The Vilnius City Municipality is fundamentally renovating the sports grounds for schoolchildren and residents of the district. The Vilnius Rytas Club, which contributes to this project, is glad that the symbols of the capital club decorate the basketball boards and the cover with the logo and the slogans of the club “Go ahead, Vilnius residents” in the fields.

The players from the capital’s club, Dovis Bičkauskis and Karolis Giedraitis, also participated in the opening ceremony of the basketball court installed in the progymnasium Užupis P. Vileišis. At least 3 more school sports fields will open this summer, with plans to renovate up to 13 in the rest of 2020.

According to Deputy Mayor Valdas Benkunskas, this cooperation with the Rytas Club plays an important role in encouraging young people to be proud of their city club, strengthening the capital’s basketball culture and level.

“The goal is simple: that children understand from a young age that the city team is ‘Morning’, they would improve and strengthen the basketball community. We want children to attend basketball training and develop an aspiration to see themselves in the men’s team, “said Deputy Mayor of Vilnius City Benkunskas.

“Rytas” advocate Dovis Bičkauskis said that such a municipal initiative will become a solid springboard for children to contribute to young people’s development and physical activity.

“We are happy with this initiative of the Vilnius municipality to install said sports field. Children will now have a place to play sports and improve. We hope that children will play basketball even more actively and we will wait for them to grow as professional basketball players, “said Bičkauskis.

The P. Vileišis Progymnasium course, opened today, is the first of the school sports grounds to be renovated this year, decorated with the “Tomorrow” symbol. Soon, in late June, three more playgrounds will be completed: Ąžuolynas Progymnasium, Peace Progymnasium and J. Lelevelis Engineering Gymnasium. The M. Mažvydas Progymnasium stadium will also open in late summer.
