“One of them has not been vaccinated,” Jovita Černeckienė, director of the nursing home, told BNS on Monday.

According to her, the three infected people felt the characteristic symptoms of the disease, they were taken to the hospital.

“There are no symptoms for the others,” said the woman.

According to J.Černeckienė, the institution cares for a total of 49 people, of which 44 are vaccinated.

“It just came to our knowledge then. (…) Some were not vaccinated for various reasons,” explained the head of the institution.

The director of the nursing home says the institution employs 31 people, all of whom are also vaccinated.

According to her, the vaccination with the second dose at the institution took place two weeks ago, on February 10.

For her part, Justina Petravičienė, representative of the National Center for Public Health, informed the BNS that on Wednesday a coronavirus infection had been confirmed in six more residents.

“These populations were also vaccinated with a full vaccination schedule. Preventive tests were carried out on 29 employees of the institution, the results of all the tests were negative, ”he said.

According to the NVSC representative, specialists from the Department of Tauragė visited the institution and provided recommendations on infection prevention measures.

Rugilė Pilvinienė, Senior Advisor to the Drug Control Service’s Pharmacovigilance and Poison Information Division, previously told BNS that post-vaccination infections are possible because no vaccine provides absolute protection.

“Nowhere is it stated that the protection with any vaccine is 100%. (…) A person can get sick despite having been vaccinated, but they can get sick in a milder way. That is what is sought and is wait, ”said Rugilė Pilvinienė.

This is not the first case in the country where coronavirus infections have been detected after the second dose of the vaccine. The outbreak of a coronavirus outbreak at the Addere nursing home in Trakai this week confirmed the infection in three fully vaccinated residents.
