He could not speak or eat because of the sore throat.

It wasn’t long before Algimante learned that he had had high-risk contact with a person with coronavirus.

“Waking up on Thursday morning was even worse. In the afternoon, I got a message from the National Center for Public Health that I had high-risk contact with the patient over the weekend. There was a bit of a panic like that. I had I had to isolate myself, fill out a questionnaire, I noticed that I wanted to do a test. I did it on Saturday. I already saw on Sunday at 9 in the morning that the answer was positive, “said Algimantė.

The interviewee recalls that the course of the illness was more severe than a common cold. From Wednesday, when he felt the first symptoms, until Monday, he could not even speak due to a severe sore throat.

“My throat hurt so much that I couldn’t clench any sound. At one point I couldn’t even swallow, I grabbed a bowl and spat into it because it really hurt a lot. I didn’t eat for a couple of days because I couldn’t swallow anything, but I didn’t have an appetite either. I only really realized that I wasn’t eating anything after a few days, “Algimantė said.

Tortured and fever, which only went down when drugs were taken. Like a headache.

“I take medication, then for a few hours the well-being improves, only the weakness remains, and after a few hours the pain comes back again. It looked like someone was hitting with a hammer. The feeling is really very uncomfortable. I forcefully went to the bathroom because it was very difficult to walk, recalled the interlocutor.

– I had no idea that I would leave the body to fight the virus and survive without medication – Why suffer if you can take painkillers? From what I read the comments of others, some tried to endure the disease without medication so that the body could fight on its own. But it was too difficult for me to let it all hurt. “

I would not like to repeat such an experience

The symptoms of Algimante’s disease continued for about a week. This Tuesday, according to the girl, she began to feel that the coronavirus was gradually withdrawing from the body.

“I have anemia, which is classified as a chronic disease. Maybe that made the coronavirus more difficult for me. Anemia is not a serious chronic disease, but the body is still weaker than usual. As a result, there was a bit of panic on the part of the relatives, because I was afraid that my anemia would be harder for me, Algimante said.

– But I didn’t need an espresso. Although there were thoughts of inviting her when I was feeling really bad Sunday night. However, I thought I was still doing pretty well, but if it gets worse on Monday, I’ll ask for help.

At the moment Algimante feels much better, but she is still isolated.

“It just came to our attention then. As Katkus said, I would not want to be ill because of any immunity,” joked the interlocutor.

The deterioration of the situation in hospitals

At a press conference organized by the Health Ministry on Friday, Greta Gargasienė, chief specialist of the NVSC’s Communicable Disease Management Division, said that people under the age of 19 currently account for 7.5 percent. 25.5% of patients between 20 and 35 years old, 47% between 36 and 60 years old, and 20% older than 61 years.

As Professor Ligita Jančorien Cor, head of the Infectious Diseases Corps at VUL Santara Clinics told Delfi, now there are even queues of people due to hospital beds.

“Because coronavirus patients have a great shortage of beds as soon as they no longer need oxygen, their condition gradually begins to improve, and we prescribe it immediately, because several others who need hospital treatment are waiting. Sometimes it is necessary to maintain to the patient in the reception department for a day to get a place in one place or another, “said the doctor.

Of the identified coronavirus cases, approximately 5 percent require hospitalization and of that 5 percent, approximately 10 percent require hospitalization. needs resuscitation treatment. As the professor said, hospitals do not have so many beds ready because so far no one has stopped scheduled services.

According to L. Jančorienė, chronic diseases do not necessarily lead to a bad exit from the disease, because each organism reacts to the disease in a completely different way.

“There are really young men with ECMO right now. Each organism responds to infection differently. Research is now being done that perhaps genetic factors can determine why a person of the same age and sex has a mild form and another has a mild form. severe form of the disease, and the infectious dose may be significant and the body’s own response may be different.

Chronic comorbidities do not necessarily lead to a poor prognosis. Sometimes the infection itself can be a rapid and severe progression to respiratory failure and rapid human death. Of course, we saw the same with influenza infection. This is not a distinguishing feature of COVID-19, “said the doctor.

The professor also points out that deaths also occur from people who do not arrive at the medical institution on time.
