The delfi.lt news portal announced on Wednesday that D. Rapšis was fined € 85 for participating in illegal races in Šiauliai and deprived of the right to drive for three months.
According to the Code of Administrative Offenses, participation in illegal races is equated with dangerous driving and hooliganism, for which the swimmer was sentenced to the lightest penalty.
After a few days, D. Rapšys was still detained because he exceeded the speed limit by 45 km / h.
Now the 25-year-old swimmer has his own explanations. Here is the explanation that he himself spread on the social network:
“About knowledge and ignorance. I return to the fact that ignorance does not release you from responsibility for your actions. However, I want them to hear about my recent irresponsible actions from me, not from the media, with whom I want to interact less and less.
The news that police officers patrolling Panevėžys with an unmarked car stopped me for speeding. It happened last Saturday, more than four days ago. I only found out from officials that I had been deprived of my driver’s license for three months, because I was in an illegal career in Šiauliai.
But I didn’t know, obviously I wouldn’t have been behind the wheel without a license. How did that happen? Usually the notice of the fine for “dredging” in Šiauliai came through the ITS. There was a demand to pay a fine of 85 euros, an indication of what I can pay and a link to information about an administrative crime on the portal epolicija.lt. Attach images of messages.
No revoked certificate is discussed. It turns out that the official message was sent to Vilnius, where it is registered, and not to Panevėžys, where I generally stay. The letter is still in Vilnius. I apologized yesterday, but I want to say it again. I’m sorry it happened, but it will be a valuable lesson in life for me. I hope you learn from my mistakes. Thanks for understand.”
