Not satisfied with living conditions

“We are dissatisfied,” answered the Iraqi when asked how he felt. According to him, the living conditions in the Rūdninkai landfill are not good, because it is cold for them, they do not have enough warm clothes and the tents in which they live get soaked after the rain.

A young man next to him who came from Syria also complained about the food. Migrants are not satisfied with the amount of food. They claimed that they were fed once a day.

On Tuesday, the landfill had a calm environment, water, food and other items were transported to the migrant camp established here. But the newcomers did not hide the fact that they could rebel again.

“If our living conditions do not improve, we will rebel again. We did not expect such a bad situation when we got here,” said the migrants.

They gave the same reason for their arrival in Lithuania: that it was not safe for them to live in their own countries. The destination of the trip was the same: Germany.

“We hope that the European Union understands us and travels further,” said the migrants housed in the Rūdninkai landfill.

Fearful, but understands the dissatisfaction of migrants

Rūdninkai residents say they cannot adapt to changes in their settlement, but they also believe they understand the dissatisfaction of the migrants. Svetlana, a saleswoman at a local store, said that the people of Rūdninkai fear the newcomers and take extra precautions, install more locks and claim that they even bought a gas cylinder.

But the woman also said she didn’t think the new neighbors would stay up as fall, winter approached. According to her, migrants in such conditions in the landfill will not be good. In addition, Svetlana assured that she had no doubt that visitors from Iraq, Syria or other countries would like to go further, to Western Europe.

At the time, Rūdninkai residents, Anna, did not like the fact that there were cases where illegal immigrants fled their accommodation.

“They are running, protesting, trying to escape whenever they can. On Monday in our town, two were detained by the police. The officers also traveled through Baltaja Vokė, they ran through Rūdninkai in search of refugees. Of course, there have been more police officers, but we are still afraid, no one has explained anything to us. One Monday he said he would bring it, and on Wednesday he had already brought it. The authorities had arrived, they were talking, but what did they say … People went to the rally the next day, “said the woman.

Ana assured that she believed that the illegal immigrants would not stay in Rūdninkai; according to the woman, they did not want to stay.

Supports the decision to return to Belarus

Danuta, who lives 300 meters from where the migrants currently live, says people are alarmed when new arrivals are accommodated here.

“No one came to us and did not consult with us, although he promised to come to consult.

Migrants constantly make noise, scream, our dogs constantly bark, it is impossible to sleep at night. I think there are too many people out there, too little room for them. I think people shouldn’t be considered that way. They behave so restless because they are supposed to take it to the stable. I don’t know if maybe that is being done all over the world, but I don’t think it’s correct. People should live like us, at home, not near without the opportunity to leave. This is wrong ”, Danuta is convinced.

It is true that women appreciate the decision of the Interior Minister, Agnė Bilotaitė, to allow border guards to return illegal immigrants going to Lithuania and take them to border checkpoints.

“I think this is the right decision, because there are no conditions for them in Lithuania,” said a Rūdninkai resident.

After A.Bilotaitė’s decision, as announced15 minutesOn Tuesday night, about a dozen migrants were returned and sent back to Belarus.

Until then, they were all housed while their asylum claims were being examined. Under the order, the migrants were directed to the nearest international border control point or functioning diplomatic mission.

Number of illegal arrivals from Belarus in recent weeks it has already exceeded 4 thousand. According to the Department of Statistics, on Sunday, a maximum of 287 people were detained at the wall to date.
