Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis announced on Facebook that the meeting is planned to adopt “new tactical decisions that allow reducing the acceleration of the spread of the virus without interrupting life within the country.”

“We reacted urgently to the situation in Šiauliai and Radviliškis. Today, the chief of operations made decisions on localized measures that are necessary to slow and stop the spread of the virus at critical points,” the prime minister also wrote.

The head of government says he understands that the new reality of living with the virus bothers people, but only “public awareness of protecting themselves and those around them is the most effective means” until a vaccine is invented.

“Almost 100 new infections a day, really a lot. Too much. But I want to reassure everyone and remind them that we are prepared and we know what to do,” says the Prime Minister.

On Saturday a meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations will be convened in the municipality of Radviliškis, where it will be decided what measures to take to locate the focus of the coronavirus.
