“Unless emergencies occur, the final opening of all commerce is scheduled for April 12. It will be discussed at the Government meeting next Wednesday and will take effect from Monday,” 15 minutes R.Vainienė said.

“It just came to our knowledge then. Of course, those plans change depending on the pandemic situation, but now the plan is like this,” he added.

According to the representative of the merchants, the message is more relevant to supermarkets, of which the country is known to have many.

“Some of these stores belong to networks, but for many it is the only point of sale,” said R.Vainienė.

According to her, the commercial space in the stores should not be limited, but traditionally the government must establish the area per customer of the store.

Currently, the restrictions are released only for a part of the stores: at the beginning of March, all stores with a separate outdoor entrance were allowed to operate, but the operation of stores operating in large supermarkets and without an outdoor entrance.

Currently, supermarkets can only operate essential goods stores (food, pharmaceuticals, optics and veterinary medicine), while others can only act as collection points.

R.Vainienė said that he also discussed state support for companies with the Prime Minister. He was pleased that the government reviewed the second support package this week, deciding to increase its amount and ceiling of support per company.

In addition, R.Vainienė stated that after hearing the Prime Minister’s request to merchants to make efforts to more strictly comply with the Government’s requirements to restrict flows into stores before St. Easter.
