More The COVID-19 situation was presented at the press conference in Lithuania on Tuesday by the Minister of Health, Aurelijus Veryga, Head of State Emergency, and Daiva Razmuvienė, Chief Specialist of the Communicable Disease Management Division of the National Center of Public Health (NVSC).

The coronavirus has spread to 15 educational institutions

D. Razmuvienė reported that the coronavirus continues to spread rapidly in educational institutions.

“Currently, a total of 15 educational institutions are registered, of which 2 are preschool and 13 are primary, secondary and of various levels of education. In total, there are 228 students in contact self-isolation, and there are 14 sick students in educational institutions. There are 2 preschool institutions: one person in kindergarten and 18 kindergarten employees in isolation. But this is according to the morning data, at this time there is data that will be included in tomorrow’s statistics, this is a case recorded in the Klaipėda district in one of the kindergartens and another case of a sick student high school or gym in Klaipėda ”, said D. Razmuvienė.

The epidemiologist assured that all the chimneys in the schools were managed and isolated very quickly after contact with infected people. Therefore, it is not yet appropriate to introduce distance education for everyone.

At the same time, D. Razmuvienė clarified that all currently sick children are treated on an outpatient basis, none of them are hospitalized.

Import cases have increased

Comparing the first days of September 7 and the first days of August 7, the number of import cases was 10% in September and 2% in August.

“A total of 203 cases were registered in the first week of September, while only 64 cases were registered from August 1 to 7. So the number of diseases is increasing, although it is also increasing in educational institutions. No we should panic, as we predicted, the cold period of the year, always at this time airborne infections become more active. All possible recommendations should be followed, “said D. Razmuvienė.

Clarified procedure for feeding students.

A. Veryga said that the recommendations on the safe feeding of children in educational institutions have been revised.

It is proposed to ensure as much as possible to eat both in the dining room and in the classrooms, but ensure the possibility of eating hot food. Efforts should also be made to avoid mixing in the dining room, for example by choosing different sides of the dining room ”, explained A. Veryga.

When asked by the minister if it is really appropriate at this time for institutions to ask students to provide hot food, Mr. Veryga replied that it was truly appropriate.

“Obviously, there will be circumstances where it will not be possible to provide that opportunity. You will not do anything, then the children will eat in class and it will probably not be hot food. But if there is an opportunity, as nutritionists and minis, it is very important to attend to other needs that They are important so that children do not have other problems with the digestive system. Furthermore, hot food can be brought to class, “said A. Veryga.

The Minister also spoke about the withdrawal of rapid tests for educational institutions. According to the head of the SAM, not all municipalities have withdrawn them yet, but this must be done as soon as possible.

“If we see that the recommendations continue to be ignored, we will have no choice but to publish those municipalities,” said the head of SAM.

As Ms Veryga said, there will be a list of educational establishments that follow the recommendations well and that other schools or kindergartens can follow suit.

“While the situation is not critically deteriorating and we see that it fluctuates from twenty to thirty, sometimes exceeding 40 cases per day, we are not seeing exponential growth, but that does not mean that we should relax. I believe that the measures that have been taken have produced that result. Also, we do not see a rapid increase in the number of patients treated for COVID-19 in hospitals. Therefore, use the measures that are recommended, “said A. Veryga.
