A woman who has experienced violence in a public place in the middle of the day is not waiting for an apology. She is convinced that a stranger who was previously unfamiliar with a lesson can also harm other people. The pre-trial investigation has slowed down due to quarantine, but is still moving toward the end. At least that’s what officials say.
It starts to shake when you remember
“I am a strong woman, I played sports when I was young, and I am strong, so I did not break, although I have to admit that I was shocked by the curses and blows of the first person I saw. Accustomed to that communication, no man has beaten, I know I will not allow it, “said Rasa, who works at Priekule.
The woman experiences such emotions two months after the incident at the Priekule center.
That day around 1 p.m. The woman entered the parking lot in front of the health center and stopped at the farthest corner, where there was an ATM just a few meters away.
Applying to my face, I covered everything I could, I was afraid of not breaking my nose.
This circumstance will be relevant later in terms of witnesses and evidence of the incident.
According to Rasa, the car was tracked by another car and stopped behind him, blocking the exit from the parking lot.
A large man emerged from the latter and took a quick step toward the woman’s car.
The woman said she saw him leaning against the door of his car and then experienced real horror.
Rasa said the man grabbed her neck with one hand and started hitting her in the face and head.
“First I heard an avalanche of oaths. The man was screaming, repeating that if he were not a woman, he would kill me, crush me to the asphalt and leave me in a wet place. I reapplied it to my face, covered everything I could, I was afraid of not breaking my nose, “said the woman about her experience in Priekulė.
Rasa recalled calling a woman standing at the ATM who initially thought she had witnessed a family conflict.
Police officers called by Rasa soon arrived.
He stated: R.Stasiulaitienė did not disclose the prospects for the investigation, but said he understood that investigators had a lot of work to do in this case. (Photo by Vytautas Liaudanskis)
All about an event on the way?
Rasa recalls hearing officers ask the already hugged man if he had actually hit the woman.
The victim confessed to hearing a surprising response: “If there are blueberries, then I hit, if not, I did not hit.”
The procedures began. Rasa wrote a statement and Robert wrote an explanation.
In describing the events on the site, they both mentioned a few minutes before the outbreak of violence on the road.
According to Rasa, she was driving from Klaipeda towards the crossroads towards Dituva, when a car left the side road.
There was no time to stop, and she overcame an unexpected obstacle.
No one was harmed by this, although, according to the woman, it was the driver who left the side road who had to pass the main car.
“That’s what I avoided the collision, and it was wrong. Be that as it may, with more than a decade of driving experience, I know that everything happens on the roads. Do we have to tear ourselves, hit each other, conceive ourselves for every stress we experience? Where from? I overlooked it, it’s a few miles away, and I forgot I had gotten over something, and he was pissed off and chasing me all along. Can a proper person do that? How would he have acted if he had dragged me there? ” – Rasa recalled the situation on the way.
It came with flowers
Rasa was not summoned to the police immediately after writing the statement.
However, a few weeks ago, the woman received an unexpected call from investigator Virginia Selmistraitienė.
The officer asked if he could give the person suspected of violence his phone number if he wanted to speak or even apologize.
“I said that I would not accept any apology. Perhaps I was not even the first to experience his violence. A man has to receive a lesson, be punished by law. However, last week, on his birthday, I still received his call. No I went to work that day. He came to my work with flowers and called me, he said “he wants to humiliate himself. In fact, I did not hear any regrets from him. It was more a mockery and a pity”, Rasa did not hide his impression at that time.
The woman wondered where the participant in the incident, which had caused her so much unpleasant emotion, had discovered her name and phone number.
Admittedly, it was later learned that when he arrived at the hair salon where Rasa works, the man likely saw his phone number when it was made public.
It is still unclear where the man discovered his name.
The investigator assured that said information could not be revealed in any way and certainly did not reveal it. The victim’s details are not disclosed to the suspect if the victim does not wish to do so.
The investigation was hampered by a pandemic
“The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, I will not comment on its progress. From what I see, I understand that the investigators are working here. I will not say where the investigation is going, what and when it will end. I can only assure you that the investigators are working.” . Rasa Stasiulaitienė, chief of the Klaipėda District Police Station, spoke about the pre-trial investigation.
Investigator V. Selmistraitienė said that faster work was hampered by strict quarantine, which led to the work of many officials from home and restricted people’s interviews directly.
Currently, it is claimed that objective evidence is being collected.
V.Selmistraitienė assured that in similar cases the outcome of the investigation depends on both persons.
Many of these incidents end in reconciliation, but that possibility depends on the moral damage suffered. The situations are not the same, so generalizations, according to the researcher, are not possible here.
The presumption of innocence means that a person is innocent until a court finds him guilty.
This is also the case here.
From the machine lying behind the jacket?
More than once interviewed by journalists from the newspaper “Klaipeda”, Robertas did not want to say what prompted him to do so.
An attorney representing his interests also advised against saying anything.
“I saw what that woman’s son wrote on his Facebook account. It’s the same as watching a movie from the middle, not from the beginning. Other people may think that he wanted to take away a bank card. But I don’t want to talk. hand, he just took me by the square of the jacket and took it out of the machine. To kick, strangle, there were no such things, that’s the worst. I saw my friends comment on Facebook, I asked them not to write more because that’s the way it is how they just put up that “post” “All the people who speak for me are eliminated by their son, leaving only the negative,” said Robert.
It seems that some of Robert’s relatives did not know about this whole story until the end of last week, the man protected them from negative emotions.
He did not speak about the experiences of a foreign woman on the Priekulė site.
Witness – surprised
Officers can be expected to collect all the necessary evidence.
Since the event took place near the ATM, video cameras were likely to capture how things were going.
Part of the incident was observed by a woman standing at the ATM. Her teenage daughter was in the car at the time and had seen everything from the beginning.
The girl is said to have been so shocked that she rushed to the phone and emotionally said that she saw a man raise his hand in front of the woman.
Robert also drove more than one. The man’s car had his daughter and young grandchildren.
Rasa was surprised that the children told the officers who arrived at the scene that the man had done nothing of the kind.
Did the woman even ask and rhetorically ask if such behavior could not be normal in the family?
When Rasa told the suspect that she did not want to contact him, she asked for a lawyer to act on her behalf.
The lawyer said he mentioned to his client that he had heard an arrogant statement, that a similar situation was not new and that it was clear what to do here.
Hitting in front of wife
Violence cases are not infrequently recorded in public. Police have had to initiate pre-trial investigations when, due to a slight misunderstanding, drivers give their fists the will.
Last year, a city minibus driver, who had experienced violence from an unknown man in one of Klaipeda’s self-service car washes, was waiting for the offender’s legal evaluation of his actions for several months.
This time, an unknown man hit him in front of his wife and young son just because the driver demanded that he be allowed to finish washing his car.
The arrogant man in a public place not only hit a stranger, but also hit him in the face.
Later, authorities said that no one had seen the incident and that the testimonies of both men were contradictory, so there was insufficient evidence to prove the violence.
Another more widespread event occurred in the territory of the Klaipeda bus station six years ago.
Later, a Klaipeda resident attacked an ambulance doctor who was performing his duties during the service, who provided help to a person who injured his leg.
The entrance to the ambulance was blocked by a BMW owner. He approached the ambulance so close that it was not possible to open the back door and load the patient.
The doctor expressed dissatisfaction with the driver’s behavior and received a blow to the face. Felcher fell, head smashed and lip pierced.
So the evidence was enough. The author was tried, most likely he would have been convicted, but it all ended in a reconciliation when the author apologized and compensated for the damage caused.
