Jurgita Šiugždinienė, rector of Kaunas University of Technology, Laima Andrikienė, former member of the European Parliament, and Aistė Gedvilienė, member of Seimas, were among the top twenty in the final list of candidates for the National Union of Patriotic-Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TS -LKD) in the Seimas elections.

On Saturday, after corrections by Ingrida Šimonytė and Gabrielius Landsbergis, the TS-LKD Council approved the final list of candidates for the Seimas elections. J. Šiugždinienė, who contributed to the preparation of the party’s electoral program, received ninth place, L. Andrikienė, fifteenth place. After their previous ranking of the party in June, they were not in the top twenty.

At that time, A. Gedvilienė would be pushed down due to the corrections, but was elevated to 20th place.

“I really wanted our list and our group to be as similar as possible to our society in the future. And if there are half men and half women in our society, I wanted to make at least the top twenty there are as many women as the rules can do. I. Šimonytė explained the decision.

There are also new surnames in the early 1930s: publicist Liudvika Pociūnienė and professor at Klaipėda University, military historian Valdas Rakutis, 29 and 30 positions on the list of positions, respectively.

In the final list, I. Šimonytė and G. Landsbergis are followed by members of Seimas Laurynas Kasčiūnas (3), Radvilė Morkūnaitė Mikulėnienė (4), Paulius Saudargas (5), Arvydas Anušauskas (6), Agnė Bilotaitė (7), Audronius Ažubalis (8) J, Šiugždinienė (9), Jurgis Razma (10), Monika Navickienė (11), Žygimantas Pavilionis (12), Vytautas Juozapaitis (13), Dainius Kreivys (14), L. Andrikienė (15), Mykolas Majauskas (16), Antanas Matulas (17), Gintarė Skaistė (18), Kazys Starkevičius (19) and A. Gedvilienė (20).

The Conservative Council also approved the remaining five candidates in single-member constituencies. In the Mėguva constituency, the party will be represented by Mindaugas Skritulskas, Mažeikiai – Lina Rimkienė, Danė – former Commander of the Armed Forces, General Arvydas Pocius, in the Baltic constituency – Audrius Petrošius,

Kristijonas Bartoševičius, a public figure, teacher, and chorus girl, is being raised in Šalčininkai – Vilnius uninominal constituency.

Draw a red line

G. Landsbergis claims that his conservatives after the elections would be ready to work in a coalition with all the political forces, whose provisions of the program will be in agreement with his party, except for the Polish Lithuanian electoral campaign: the Union of Christian Families ( LLRA-KŠS).

“Today we are ready to work according to the programs, the coordination of the programs, with all the parties that are out of state; we will see what the voters will decide,” G. Landsbergis told reporters at a meeting of the Council of Christian Democrat of the National Union-Lithuania.

“I am probably not mistaken in saying that we have a faction in the Seimas (LLRA-KŠS), which includes a colleague (Irina Rozova), who has practically avoided being accused of knowingly cooperating with the Russian secret services.” “I would not dare to call this action a state of strengthening, that is, the division that is the Grand Canyon in politics,” added the conservative leader.

According to him, the future Seimas can have a wide variety of parties, from three to eight.

G. Landsbergis also says he has “big doubts” about the possibilities of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Labor Party, which now belongs to the ruling coalition, to join the Seimas.

“The farmers, I think, will also be a different party. In fact, I would not be optimistic on their part that this post-epidemic joy will last for a long time. We are seeing other states where that emotion diminishes as people take to the streets with Courage and start thinking about elections in a completely different way. We’ll see what voters will decide, “he said.

I. Šimonytė stated that he was waiting for the presentation of the programs from other parts and that until now he could not say with whom he would see more points of contact. She confirmed that after the successful performance of the TS-LKD in the elections and the formation of a ruling coalition, it would take over the leadership of the future Government.

“Without a doubt, by agreeing to run for number one on the list, I understood that if the National Union could form a Government, we would form a Government thinking that I could lead that Government,” he said.

I. Šimonytė rebuked the rulers that at present Lithuania has not implemented the necessary reforms in the fields of education, health care, public administration and receives the same comments annually from international institutions. According to her, the coronavirus pandemic should be seen as an opportunity for such reforms.

“It just caught our eye then. Because, on the one hand, the pandemic is not over yet, all the quarantine restrictions have shown great attachment, both in school and in the health system, and in other areas that are an opportunity to hang out and change things. we haven’t thought about in a long time. For example, who could have thought that so many of us can work outside the workplace, ”considered I. Šimonytė.

Like the party leader, she had complaints about the commercial support plan that governs.

The Seimas elections will be held on October 11.
