“Dear friends, tonight we lost Ilona,” began her colleagues sensitively in their post on social media.

“To everyone who personally knew the director of SOS Animals, she was simply Ilona, Ilonytė. A brave little warrior who has fought on the animal welfare front for several years, despite the worries, frustrations, hardships he faces here, and in recent years, even the pain caused by a serious illness.

Ilona always dreamed of organizing aid for animals, even when most of us didn’t even know there was such a big problem … “SOS Animals” wouldn’t have happened without it. I had to work hard, and the manager’s duties included daily cleaning and taking calls most of the day. When the shelter’s infrastructure was still minimal, in cold winters I spent the night in a cart on a sofa, besieged by pavilions for fear of not turning off the stove or a fire. He brought many cats and dogs to the shelter, taking care of their home, that others would consider unviable: limbs, old, blind … For many of us, the SOS yard became the last refuge, but nobody was so happy. like Ilona when an old man found a real house. And no one was so grieved when they left life. She clung to everyone, called to the wards her children: “Well, children, how do you live?” And they jump, barely toppling, rejoicing.

We will miss Ilona endlessly. They will also be lacking in the field of animal care in Lithuania. Above all, you will miss your family, your children. Nick, Eve, wait.

We can’t invite you to say goodbye to Ilona Reklaityte, but we do invite you to light a candle at least at home. When we know, let us know which graveyard you will be sleeping in.

Ilona believed that death did not end there. In the country of the rainbow it will definitely be welcome, because love never disappears without a trace ”, warmly describes the SOS Animals record to the founder of the organization.

Comments from those who knew Ilona were entered into a sensitive record of the care organization. All to one argued that it was a painful loss to the animal care community. Famous people, including TV host Rūta Mikelkevičiūtė, actress Aušra Štukytė, circus performer Agnė Zobovienė and others, gave their warm words to exclusive animal lovers.

Recently, I. Reklaitytė has been battling a recurrent oncological disease.

Other acquaintances of Ilona also express their condolences to the family and relatives. In social networks, not a single friend of a woman regrets and shares sensitive memories.

Andrius Mezencevas, I. Reklaitytė’s ex-husband, shared a heartbreaking recording.

“I wanted to ask you to pray. She was a very bright person. Any disagreements, fights, and the like are just shells. All of this can be crossed out at once and forgotten as a bad dream. The main thing will remain: the good that he brought to this world. That’s a lot.

I filmed this video five years ago when Ilona rescued another discarded and seemingly desperate animal. And at the same time, we saved her from the oncology nails lurking inside her.

So the doctors did not believe too much that miracles were possible in the fourth stage. But a miracle happened: another five years of his life, with his beloved sun, the smiles of his friends and the hundreds of four-legged rescues. She gave herself to them without selfishness. Someday they will definitely meet and be grateful for the new hope given.

The world loves you, “wrote one of Ilona’s relatives.

Yeah I wouldn’t go here soon
not quite up to FB yet. I just came to ask you to pray. That…

During his life, I. Reklaitytė helped countless abandoned and forgotten animals. He was often at the center of rescue operations when quadrupeds were on the brink of death or were being held in dire conditions.

Women’s long-term love, care and devotion for animals is also illustrated in her photos. In almost all of them, it posed on four legs.

Ilona will always be grateful to the owners of the quadruped, who made her best friend thanks to her.

SOS Animals is one of the largest and most recognized animal care organizations in Lithuania. I. Reklaitytė and like-minded people founded it in 2008.
