“We spoke with the business that it is better to close completely, because, as planned, to allow the hotels to function, but closing the spa and catering services, is equivalent to closing the hotel. We cannot imagine how to serve food to a hundred people three times a day, there is no capacity, “he said on the” Delphi Day “program.
According to her, not all restaurants can accommodate and provide takeout only.
“Providing take-out was better suited and the biggest profits went to those who already did. For a restaurant to suddenly transform and hire moving services that cost 30%, it was more of a social project. You can’t transform so suddenly and take out food, ”says the president of the Lithuanian Restaurant and Hotel Association.
She says that with the rapid spread of the virus, people no longer go to the restaurant, the billing has been drastically reduced.
“When outdoor terraces are closed and there is such a situation, people just don’t go to restaurants. The turnover has fallen more than 60%, it no longer makes sense to work. Exactly the same with hotels, SPA – turnover has fallen dramatically since November – by about 65 percent, ”says E. Šiškauskienė.
He points out that some hotels haven’t opened since spring.
“What 30 percent. Business hotels in cities didn’t open anyway, and the ones that did open were just ridiculous at 10-20%, now dropping to 4-5%. The biggest problem for the entire business is that the heating season has started. A business hotel, with 150 rooms, costs about -30,000 euros per month. If there is no help from the state, the situation will be very sad, “says the president of the Association of Restaurants and Hotels.
Evalda Šiškauskienė
According to her, the state should now act and provide support very quickly so that companies can still adapt to the change in situation for the next season.
“The state should think about the subsidy scheme, only apparently it’s no longer 90 and 10 percent, because what to pay for 10 percent. – I have no idea, especially for hotels that have been closed since March. I think a 100% subsidy for downtime and a subsidy for businesses should be considered. Now there are good plans for business hotels, but in addition to loans and deferred interest assistance. And it would be very useful for restaurants to recover the measure of rent compensation when the owners cover 30% and 20%. State subsidies “, – says E. Šiškauskienė.
However, he emphasizes, not all will survive the second quarantine. “It is a fact that not everyone will survive, especially the tourist restaurants, but the downtime assistance and rent would be very high, they could still survive for some time. Without these measures, there will be nothing ”, she is convinced.
“We don’t even doubt that the quarantine will last. Even if hotels can operate after three weeks, they won’t work. The same goes for restaurants. If there are a lot of infections, people just won’t. I think in spring, when they open the terraces to the open air, there will be a real recovery ”, says the president of the Lithuanian Association of Restaurants and Hotels in the show“ Delfi diena ”.
