On Saturday, I. Šakalienė, who has been incarcerated for almost a year, faced justice: the Vilnius Regional Court began hearing a high-profile criminal case in which a previously illegal woman is accused not only of cruelly killing a retired pensioner, throwing his body and false prescriptions. , which it intended to use in the manufacture and storage of psychotropic drugs.

“No comment,” reporters said that officials from the armed convoy asked before the trial when they evaluated the charges against him.

Following the opening of the criminal proceedings on the merits of the court, Judge Jurgita Kolyčienė, president of the Chamber of Three Judges, announced that the relatives of the murdered, who had been recognized as victims, were requesting to hold non-public hearings. “We just don’t want that publicity,” said the daughter of the murdered victim.

However, the hearings will be public: the panel of judges decided that the victims did not indicate the reasons specified in the law on the basis of which the judges could hear the case in private.

“I fully admit guilt,” admitted Šakalienė at the beginning of the meeting. For everything that happened, he blamed her mental health, although during the pre-trial investigation, experts discovered that the woman was healthy, aware of what she had done and could be held responsible for her actions.

According to Tomas Čepelionis, the prosecutor of the Vilnius Regional Prosecutor’s Office, which supports the state prosecution, I. Šakalienė was charged on July 17 last year. He brutally killed Jekaterina Šumskienė, an 86-year-old girl from Vilnius. His burned body was found in Verkiai Park, in a remote wooded area: there were many stab wounds and wounds on the bodies of those killed. Some of the killer’s personal belongings were found at the scene, but there were no documents proving his identity, and the body was covered in tree branches and unrecognizable burned.

According to the prosecutor, the pensioner suffered at least 41 injuries and cut her throat with a knife. Furthermore, the woman was strangled.

During the pre-trial investigation, I. Šakalienė did not speak about her alleged crimes for ten months, but unexpectedly admitted before transferring the case to court. She was also not guilty in the courtroom: she admitted that a pensioner, who had never even met her before, was stabbed and then her body was set on fire.

“But I didn’t want to burn it, I wanted to burn everything in my head,” said I. Šakalienė.

She said that she had not worked in the last two months before the crime because she felt very ill and that in July she had a disagreement with her husband, that she had not slept all night and was waiting until dawn. Around 8 p.m. he sat in his car and drove into town; on the way he saw a woman stopped at a bus stop braking cars.

“An older woman was standing on the side of the sidewalk, I stopped, opened the window, the woman asked if I was going to town,” said I. Šakalienė. – This woman sat in my car next to me, we drove and at some point I turned from the back seat to pick up my bag and the phone, which rang. I carry a knife in this bag for a while … I can’t say why I gave up, it all happened very briefly, for a few moments and then I realized I was doing something terrible. It wasn’t even immediately clear what had happened: I dropped the knife to the ground, the car’s engine had already stopped …

Now I can’t explain why either, but I realized the need to hide that body. There was a forest around, so I went through the first entrance until a small crack appeared. Then I opened the door, got the lady out of the car and, standing in front of her, remembered that I had bought a flammable liquid. I didn’t want to burn that body, I wanted to burn it off my head. I wanted to erase this situation from my memory, that was my reaction, as if I wanted to deny it and demonstrate that it did not happen. “

After burning the murdered, me. Šakalienė went home, but on the way he saw that there were blood clots on the mat.

“I was terrible and disgusting, I saw blood clots on the mat, they had to be cleaned in some way, so I flushed it and went home, they did not visually stain me with blood,” said I. Šakalienė, accused of extremely murder brutal.

Later she went to the store because she was going to prepare dinner for her son, but when she returned home from the mall she saw many policemen.

“I was very scared, I thought something had happened to my son, I did not relate the appearance of the agents to the house with my actions, so I ran to them and asked what had happened, and then they stopped me,” she said. “I was locked in a car, I had a phone for a while and I called my friend, I told him they arrested me and I don’t know why.”

I. Šakalienė could not explain why he killed the pensioner, but admitted that due to his serious state of health, this outbreak of violence could have occurred at any time and in front of anyone.

The victims have declared more than 200 thousand to I. Šakalienė. Claims in euros. The accused admits them.

“I do not own property, but I will do my best to compensate, and I look forward to the opportunity to work at the Panevėžys correctional facility,” said I. Šakalienė. “It would be unethical to argue, it is very difficult when that amount, but I am in captivity to pay, but I cannot object to people.”

He apologized to the victims in the courtroom: “I really want to apologize to my loved ones, I apologize very much for your mother, I will try to compensate you in some way.”

Until the court ruling, I. Šakalienė is under arrest, but on Wednesday she was asked to be temporarily released, although, as she said, she is well aware that she will be forced to spend many years in the Panevėžys correctional center.

I. Šakalienė also admitted that he had prescriptions at home and in his purse, which he intended to use to buy psychotropic drugs; he used them for some time due to his state of health.

At the time, the murdered daughter said her mother was constantly watching the criminal news, was very careful, and never got into strangers’ cars. According to her, it is not strange that her mother has got into a vehicle driven by a stranger and the bus has reached the bus stop less than a minute later.

“I will share my doubts at the court hearing,” he said.
