One of the most famous voices in the NBA, Marvas Albert, ends his career as a commentator, according to the American sports whale ESPN. The 79-year-old legend is reported to continue to work in the playoffs this season, with the final leg being the Eastern Conference final.
Albert began his commentary career in 1963 on one of the United States radio stations, making his NBA debut two years later.
During that time, Albert was the voice of thirteen NBA finals, aired in 25 NBA All-Star games and commented on the final of the Barcelona Olympics in 1992, when the United States regained the gold medals.
Albert, who patented his famous slogan “Yes!”, Is best known as an NBA commentator, but has also worked with other sports, including soccer, boxing, hockey, baseball and tennis.
“My 55 years of commenting just flew by and I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with so many talented people,” Albert said of the resignation. “Now I will have the opportunity to improve my gardening skills and work with dance moves.”
