When we get to Rietava, we turn onto Plungės street, where the company is located. Trusting us, Mr. Almutis drives to his office on the second floor, sits down at the table, offers tea, and immediately asks what we want to know.

When asked how he is doing, he immediately admits that he himself is on vacation here rather than working.

“I control it,” he laughs, saying that his three sons have now taken over the business.

The company he founded is now engaged in construction work, road construction, hydrotechnical solutions, wellness works and reconstruction of public spaces.

“We are doing everything, we just haven’t built a bridge across the Baltic yet.

We have laid about 470 km of water supply and sewerage underground, we are in the building of about 22 treatment plants in Lithuania, 2 in Estonia and the same number in Latvia ”, he praises.

Speaking of the beginning of the constitution of the company, the businessman says that the company was privatized and that previously it only carried out land reclamation works.

“When the company was privatized, part of it was divided. The colleague was operating separately, and we have around 350 of the 450 people left, so we can say that we have shrunk, ”he recalls.

We note that although the company is located in Rietavas itself, its name suggests Plungė.

A. Bieliauskas says that this happened because the Plungė district used to be here.

“Therefore, we were” Laguna Plungė “, and changing the name to” Laguna de Rietavas “would have been very expensive afterwards.

We also already did a good job with the name, we participated in the contests, “he explains.

Immediately after privatization, the company worked intensively with Russia and later, around 1995, it started intensive work in Lithuania.

“We have outsourced to large foreign companies and we took them back,” he says.

Kol p. Almutis talks about the beginning of the founding of the company, his son, the current one, joins the conversation
Managing Director of Plungė Lagoon, Darius Bieliauskas.

He says that the company now works mainly in the area from Šiauliai to Klaipėda, where it is carrying out one of the largest projects – the Dane reconstruction works – and estimates that the company now employs around 260 people.

“In 2020 we signed around 80 contracts, and in total we participated and did not win around 180 bids per year.

Last year, the turnover was 22.5 million. Eur, ”says Darius, p. Almutis adds that during the entire year of his tenure, one of the most painful losses was related to the bankruptcy of Snoras Bank. Then the company lost $ 6 million. LTL.

“There they gave us an advance to do the work and all that money was gone, and the work still had to be done. It was painful, ”recalls Mr. Almutis, and his son adds that the company later managed to recover only 100,000 of that money. EUR.

“There were challenges, but my dad is not the person who needs a Lamborghini. We won and we invested in the company,” says Darius and assures that the employee turnover in the company is not high.

“It just came to our attention then. He’s been in Denmark for two months, he’s back, he’s still working with us,” they say.

According to Sodra, the average salary of this company in August amounted to 1,408.48 euros before taxes.

P. Almutis has two more children who also help him in business. Talking about them and how friendly they are taking over their business little by little, the man complains.

“One oversees the finances, another is in charge of the stone, and a third is in charge here.

We all get together, we think, we discuss decisions, but my signature is no longer valid anywhere. I’ve worked as a manager for 43 years, ”says Mr. Tears. Almutis.

As they say, all of them today are not only engaged in construction work, but have also founded another company, Marmoarc, which does stone-related work.

“We make sculptures, benches, table tops for kitchens.

This company employs 8 people, ”says Darius.

The men also plan to open a new store soon, which will be dedicated to the exhibition of stone slabs.
