A discussion on the indexation of pensions arose on Tuesday in the Presidency, where President Gitanas Nausėda met with the Board of Seimas.

Under current law, pensions do not increase if a country’s GDP or wage bill decreases.

However, Ramūnas Karbauskis, the leader of the ruling “peasants”, promised that the Social Security Pension Law would be amended if necessary.

“It just came to our notice then. In my opinion, it may be necessary to make some adjustments to the law for indexing to take place, even if we are missing a few tens of percent of economic growth.” 15 minutes R. Karbauskis spoke.
