A letter from outraged new parents about the behavior of Veronika Naumova, a first grade teacher at Vilnius M. Mažvydas Progymnasium, reached the Delfi editorial office. According to the parents, the elementary school teacher, working remotely, went abroad without informing her immediate supervisor.
In addition, he makes the fact of the holidays public and shares it on the social network Facebook.
The information is public, invite the children’s parents to have friends and share information about the holidays. Photos uploaded here with a bathing suit. Does this suit teachers? Is this an ethical behavior of the teacher?
The children will be spending their second birthday, they are severely restricted in their living space, they cannot visit their friends, they miss out on favorite activities, circles, and teacher Veronica bothers them and their parents with pictures from the Maldives. Another thing is the teleworking of the teacher abroad, because we doubt that it is permissible, “said the parents in a written complaint.
According to them, they have already approached the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports to assess the situation.
When Delfi goes to Professor Veronica’s personal page on Facebook, the post and photos from the Maldives are really visible. Unfortunately, it also states that the information is not for the press or for portals, so we cannot quote or publish photos without the consent of the author.

However, when the news portal tried to contact the teacher Veronika personally to comment on the situation, no one responded to the calls.
Eugenijus Manelis, director of Vilnius M. Mažvydas Progymnasium, declined to comment further on such behavior of the teacher, but indicated that “the situation is being investigated”.
He lived in the ministry for three weeks.
Delfi remembers teacher Veronika Naumova in 2018. She was an active participant in the teachers’ strike.
This time, a strike was announced over the full-time teacher pay system introduced that year.
Andrius Navickas, president of the Lithuanian Union of Education Workers, called the new pay system unfair and humiliating.
The so-called teachers’ strike began in the last days of November of that year. Several dozen striking educators spent three weeks at the ministry.
The Lithuanian Union of Education Workers announced an indefinite strike of educators on 12 November. More than 1,500 teachers went on strike during its heyday. It was officially completed just before mid-December.
As is well known, in order to ensure the safety of the kindergarten and school communities and prevent the possible occurrence of outbreaks of COVID-19, the current goal is to identify educators with coronavirus who are infected or asymptomatic. For this, serological tests for antibodies and PCR were used.
Already at the end of January, the tests of teachers with serological antibody tests began to find out what proportion of teachers had already had a coronavirus infection.
The tests began when educators implemented direct, permanent or temporary contact with students in preschool, preschool and primary education programs, as well as working in special schools, special classes of general education schools or vocational training institutions according to the professional training social skills programs for students with special educational needs.
The ministry notes that only those in direct contact are invited to take the test, and elementary school teachers will be invited to take the test regularly before returning to school.
