V. Adamkus told the tv3.lt news portal that A. Adamkienė is getting stronger every day, his health is improving. It is true that things have not returned to normal yet, but the visible progress is truly gratifying, even though Ms. Alma has to take medication every day.
Health does not complain
“He feels great except his legs have been broken, now he’s getting a bit better and better. It seems to me he had a problem with his blood vessels, but now he’s using medicine, dropping his medicine to strengthen. Day by day, the sky seems to shine ”, said His Excellency.
The president says that the mood improves when he sees his wife standing firmly:
“I am happy with every day that I see him getting stronger. Of course, when walking you still have to hold on to the walker, walking with a little restraint. It is the biggest problem, but I see him getting stronger, he is improving, so he is also happier for me. “
When asked how the president himself feels, he replies that he can’t really complain, he feels strong and well in general, but his back still hurts, which is why he is waiting for an acupuncturist to return to the country.
“I really can’t complain, my only problem is my back. I can’t say it hurts, but there is a kind of feeling of being close to pain. I am waiting for a doctor from abroad, who is engaged in acupuncture in Lithuania, to return. I’m waiting if he comes back to have a couple of needle sessions, ”said V. Adamkus.
His Excellency is convinced that after the acupuncture sessions he will be fully on his feet, although he is still walking: he travels to the Presidency 2-3 times and performs his duties there, reads letters, answers questions and various invitations.
Days go by with a book in hand
When the booster dose of the Covid-19 virus was started in the country, V. Adamkus was glad that he and his wife had already received the third vaccine:
“We received the third vaccine, to satisfy the session, no effect, no shocks, so what more could you ask for? They took him to Santariškės, vaccinated him and returned him home from Santariškės ”.
The president says the biggest problem now is the dreary and cold weather, which prevents them from leaving the house for safety reasons. However, on cold days, V. and A. Adamkus do not take books out of their house and hope that he will return at least a little better in time, and V. Adamkus himself is convinced that they must return.
“The worst part is probably here: we don’t go out, we protect ourselves from all possible infections in that climate. The only consolation is the books that we hardly put down.
We have read many books during that time and now we are reading in the hope that the weather will still improve, otherwise it cannot be because fall has come too early. I hope we have more beautiful days, ”said the president.
