According to Vinsas Janušonis, a doctor at Klaipėda University Hospital, the patient was already transferred to the hospital in a very serious condition. Until then, however, it was not exactly known that he had COVID-19.
“He was diagnosed with coronavirus in the isolation room of our hospital. She had a severe congenital disability and was overweight, weighed around 150 kg, “said the doctor about the serious condition of the patient.
The woman spent 16 days in the hospital, but her life could no longer be saved. V. Janušonis emphasizes that it was only when the patient arrived that her health condition did not give her much hope.
Currently, according to V. Janušonis, there are 80 patients with COVID-19 in the Klaipėda University Hospital.
Of these patients, 22 were in the intensive care unit.
“It just came to our notice then. Currently, only one doctor has coronavirus. We feel a slight improvement in the situation. However, there are about 80 coronavirus patients in the hospital all the time, we have 22 patients in the resuscitation department, there are no decreases, ”said the head of the hospital.
Delfi recalls that 860 new cases of coronavirus were detected in Lithuania last day.
Additionally, 1984 people were isolated on the last day, out of a total of 69,528 people in isolation, including those confirmed with COVID-19.
A total of 2,762 people died in Lithuania from COVID-19.
