The reader of the portal tv3.lt turned to the editorial office, which is outraged by the order of the security rules at Vilnius airport. The woman says she returned from a vacation abroad this month.
“Upon returning from Greece, it was necessary to complete the questionnaire from the National Public Health Center (NVSC), after which the corresponding digital code is obtained. This code was only verified at a Greek airport. It took me to show it on my cell phone and so much knowledge. No one verified what the code was here, or if the NVSC questionnaire was actually completed here, ”writes the woman who recently returned from vacation.
Nobody checked the NVSC questionnaires at Vilnius airport
Currently returning by air from abroad to Lithuania, it is mandatory to complete the questionnaire prepared by NSVC (no later than 48 hours) and the received QR code and have one of the documents: EU digital COVID certificate or proof certificate of Negative PCR (no later than 72 hours).
The woman was surprised not only by the strange order at the foreign airport, but also by landing in Vilnius. “After landing at Vilnius airport, I was even more surprised that no one verified the NVSC questionnaires, that they did not require any code or at least display them on a mobile phone, that you actually completed that questionnaire. I am not referring to the fact that The temperature was not even checked at the airport for those coming from abroad, and even vaccinated people can catch the coronavirus and bring it to Lithuania. If the people coming in are not tested, shouldn’t they at least have the temperature checked? In Lithuania, we count hundreds of coronavirus cases a day, and you can come here with a temperature, but no one will check it. This is how we continue to spread the virus … “, the woman complains.
Documents are checked by selection
After asking about the security requirements currently applied at airports, the representative of Lithuanian airports Marius Zelenis confirmed that the completed NVSC questionnaires and the received QR code are mandatory for everyone returning from abroad.
“It just came to our attention then. They are inspected, but by choice. The Public Health Center and the State Border Guard Service are required to inspect these documents and carry out these inspections selectively. In any case, completing this form and having a QR code is mandatory for everyone coming to Lithuania, regardless of the way they arrive. Either by air, by water or by land. Then everything is already the responsibility of the institutions ”, says Marius Zelenis.
Other security requirements, such as climate control, no longer apply to returning passengers. “We are not checking the temperature at this time, it was only controlled at the beginning of the pandemic. But we see that most airports have abandoned this practice because it is not an effective tool in the fight against a pandemic. However, in principle, we are one of the safest places in Lithuania, where everyone ends up with one or another document, be it vaccinated, sick or with a negative test. Without those documents, they cannot fly anywhere, this alone makes our environment safer, ”says M. Zelenis.
According to the representative of Lithuanian airports M. Zelenis, in addition to these requirements, everyone is asked to observe a safe distance, the airport is equipped with additional disinfection stations and cleaning terminals.
“Many of these security measures have been implemented and I believe this will become a new reality and will continue to exist even after the end of the pandemic,” says Marius Zelenis.
