The Lithuanian company Autokausta together with the Polish INTOP Warszawa for 17.5 million. EUR (VAT included) will rebuild the section of the Vilnius-Klaipėda highway on the outskirts of Kaunas, near Giraitė.
According to Remigijus Lipkevičius, head of the Highway Administration, a one-level intersection in the road section from 103 to 107 kilometers will be eliminated until the autumn of next year, thus eliminating the possibility of collisions, connecting roads and other solutions of engineering.
The BNS Directorate has specified that a viaduct will be built in the current turn of the Giraite highway, installing a two-level crossing.
This section of the road is part of the Via Baltica trans-European network development project and after reconstruction will comply with international technical and safety standards, the Highway Administration announced.
The winning management and business association signed the contract at the end of October and it came into effect on November 11.
The project is funded by the Road Maintenance and Development Program and the European Union.
