Future Health Minister Arūnas Dulkys presented a plan on Friday to stop the spread of COVID-19.

When asked if it is realistic to achieve 200 new cases of coronavirus infection per day in the current situation, A. Veryga said that it is realistic to reach zero at some point.

At the same time, he said that he did not know what period was left to achieve such an indicator.

“If we are talking about the New Year here, there is no possibility. The chances of reaching 200 in such a period are nil, if we talk about the New Year ”, said the outgoing Minister of Health.

A.Veryga said that he did not know how the indicators indicated by A.Dulkys would be achieved.

However, he pointed out that, for example, the current government used 100 military personnel, more than 400 officials from the public health office, due to the traceability of new cases of coronavirus.

“It’s good to find ways to do it right, even better, and more effectively. But I read the measures a little, it seems to me that perhaps they are not measures, but rather indicators that must be achieved and monitored ”, commented A.Veryga.

Commenting on the possible imposition of a state of emergency, he said he did not know what he wanted to achieve.

“If you want to restrict movement between cities, you can do it without an emergency, as was done during Holy Week. If you want to restrict political parties or the provision of information, (…) you may no longer be allowed to talk about something that the government does not like. You know that the media can be restricted, the content can be restricted, n things can be done there. And, to my understanding, I am of course not a lawyer, but a doctor, but , as the lawyers explain to me, to declare such a situation, there must be a threat to the constitutional order of the state. So, is there one at this time? I don’t think so, “said A. Veryga.

The curfew, he said, is meant to prevent people from walking at night. At the same time, the outgoing Health Minister explained that the current government has banned the activities of bars and discos.

“It’s not much to go at night anymore,” Veryga said.
