“Not only in Vilnius and Kaunas, but also in other large cities, the government can be expected to decide on the quarantine. I can’t say for the whole government, but most of the big municipalities have entered the so-called municipal red zone, the number of cases is high and the established percentage of infected is high, ”A. Veryga told LRT radio on Monday.

“The government will decide when it will come into effect; there should be a few days for municipalities to prepare.” If a decision is made today, it will likely take effect this week, “he added.

The situation regarding the spread of the coronavirus, according to the minister, is complicated, more and more cases are not being tracked and investigated. However, A.Veryga says that he predicted that possible course.

He also said he had a very low opinion of Sunday’s notification of new cases, when the National Center for Public Health had released inaccurate daily figures, reviewing them overnight.

“It’s better to post later than inaccurate. Like I said, it’s really bad that the numbers were done too early without getting everyone’s approval on the day. We spoke to the center yesterday and asked them to adjust the numbers so they don’t add up. the next day and we see some very large numbers because the cases are not going to disappear, they can just happen from one day to the next, but we can really trust, ”said the minister.

All this time, since the start of the pandemic, people have been working practically non-stop, so it is beginning to tire everywhere, not only at the NVSC, but also in the ministry.

Despite the fact that almost a third of cases are no longer traceable and investigated, A.Veryga believes that epidemiological investigation remains significant and necessary to better control the spread of the infection.

He says that it will be necessary to resort again to the help of volunteers and other institutions, because not only the National Center of Public Health, but also the Ministry of Health does not administer the scope of work.

“People have been working virtually nonstop since the beginning of the pandemic, so it is starting to tire everywhere, not just at the NVSC, but also at the ministry. Certainly, various studies did not add motivation, when people who worked hard were then invited to explain, to explain, and public politicians spoke very loudly about the wide range of possible abuses and the like, there is a lot of burnout. But we are not the only country where such a situation has arisen and, apparently, other sectors will have to help, ”said A. Veryga.

According to him, there is no good trend and the fact that only half the population is prone to vaccination against the coronavirus. This was revealed by a survey of residents of BNS and Vilmorus published on Sunday.

“It’s not a good trend if it really is, apparently, you’ll have to go to great lengths to invite people who may be influential or who behave from different groups in society to talk about vaccines. (…) It will take a lot of effort to convince the public that with vaccination and the use of that specific infection control measure, the public will only win and can return to a normal life, ”said the Minister.
